Have you ever wanted to learn how to mod fleet operations? Have you ever heard about other people's tools and wished you could use them so you don't have to start from scratch? Have you ever started working on your own mod and thought, "man I wish Tryptic would come take a look at my work and tell me what he thinks?" 'Cause I think that all the time...

If so, then this project is for you!

Now that Fleet Ops is migrating to a new engine, we have a unique opportunity to work with V3 in the remaining year or so before the NX release. As many of you know, we used to talk about making a balance mod but people would always say that V4 was coming so soon it wasn't worth the short time we'd have to play it. Now that excuse is gone, and I'm already making plans to increase the scope of Tryptic's Mod as if it were Fleet Operations 3.3. Some things like capturable sensor stations and grey mode for scouts are already possible in this engine and will give people a taste of V4 without taking many years to code.

Furthermore, 1337 64M3R, Styer Crisis, and I are starting development on a Cardassian race mod and we could use a few more people on the team to make sure it gets off the drawing board and into community testing in as short a time as possible.

In light of these plans, I'm in the process of setting up modding and collaboration tools for a project much larger than what I've attempted before. I have also decided to start a database of my work and make it accessible to anyone who asks. If any other modding people are willing, I invite you to join the network and upload your own stuff, so that we can learn from each other and share resources, so that hopefully we don't have to do any work that somebody else has already done.

For the platform I've chosen to use Google Drive because 1. It allows you to upload any file type, 2. You can change view/edit permissions for each file or folder individually if you want, and 3. People with permission can access the files even if they don't have Google Drive installed.

The goal is to gather as much of our work as possible into one place, making it easier to work together on things or just take a look at what's going on. If you have code, or tools, or models that you have the right to share and you don't mind doing so, please let me know because I'd like to include it. And let's be honest, you never were going to finish that alternate universe mod with 8 races and a full campaign, at least not on your own. But maybe there's someone out there who's thinking the same thing, and you can create something more reasonable, like a single Co-op multiplayer map with special NPCs, by working together with them :D

More information to come as I organize my stuff into something worth sharing and hopefully get more people involved.

I might be interested in adding in Cardassians and creating models for them after the NX announcement. I'll send you a private message about it if I can find time to work on such a thing.
