I would like some ideas on how to construct the Tereanan techtree. I'm going to use modular construction to build the stations and the Tereanan weapons are chroniton-based. The modular station construction is mainly for the defense turret which can be built to optimize sensor range and cloak detection, or optimize in defense. The rest of the stations aren't really modular though.
Most of the early-game Tereanan vessels (except the defense Drones) have nice chroniton weapons but are easily blocked by certain shielding technology (eg: High-density shielding). The higher the, either defensive or system value, I haven't decided yet, the more likely destroyers are to have their weapons blocked by the shields. Although, one of the destroyer types makes a great ship for nebula bombardment to drive out enemy vessels.
The Drones provide a nice defense, but require sensor information from nearby vessels. Their high-density chroniton phasers should cut through almost any shielding technology though. Spamable in excessive numbers at the expense of your resources and at the risk that one will stray out of sensor range.
The Turrets can be optimized to have the best cloak detection systems and sensors available or have the best weapons available, or can be balanced to have a little of both. And most likely will be key for surviving early to mid game after having your mining blown up.
The cruisers are good vessels because of their chroniton torpedo launchers, which can penetrate almost any early-game shielding technology. Some even being able to get a guaranteed hit on even the fastest and smallest targets. They are relatively low on the techtree and should be sufficient to handle most factions.
The support ships only keep your fleet running at peak efficiency at the expense of the vessel providing the support. Some however can be used to break through a blockade and get the enemy from the other side of the map.
The battleships can easily match the firepower of most Borg vessels with some being able to out-match their firepower by huge amounts. One of them is even capable of one-shooting any vessel it comes in contact with. Their weapons will ignore almost any shielding technology.
Some stations can provide resources without having to mine them and some have the same functions as the support vessels but with much greater power. At least one dilithium resource is required to keep the resources flowing and even more are required to build up your fleet and base. You can go the entire game without going after a single tritanium resource.
So, any ideas on how I should proceed with the techtree and how hard it should be to climb and how hard it should be to continue to climb? I plan for this to be the most unique faction ever built.
