Hi guys,

is it easily possible (for a beginner like me) to edit the odf's to manage the following change:

a.) making the steamrunner buildable at a shipyard
b.) giving it the quadcobalt torpedo (with area damage) like the romulan serkas has

I'd like the quadcobalt torpedo to become something like the special torpedo the voyager once used against species 8472.

I assume it is not enough to change some lines of "code", right?

For the buildable Steamrunner, just extract and open the shipyard you want it in and add (between the last ship and allied repair construction) an entry for it. The techtrees already include the Steamrunner, so only the Yard should be needed.

Like this for example:
builditem0 = "fed_saberY"
builditem1 = "fed_monsoonY"
builditem2 = "fed_intrepidY"
builditem3 = "fed_akiraY"
builditem4 = "fed_canaveralY"
builditem5 = "fed_steamrunnerA"
builditem6 = "all_alliedrepair"
builditem7 = "all_halt"

The steamrunner was included in Fleet Ops up until 2 patches ago when it was removed, with plans to redesign it and bring it back later.  They left the old version's model and code, which is why Tyler's suggestion works.  All you have to do is add it to a build list somewhere.

As for the quadcobalt torpedo, I think it should be possible to clone the serkas weapon and put it on the steamy but you'll need to be careful, since it's an AOE ordinance there are some 4-8 odf files pertaining to it.

If he simply replaced the tricobalt weapon the steamy already has with the quad cobalt, then it should work fine assuming that the quadcobalt requires no research.  :whistling:

Hm... "research diplomatic resolve - can be fired while drinking coffee"  :shifty:

But i guess it's a little bit more comlicated, than just changing "tricobald" to "quadcobald" within the fedw_steamrunner config files, right?

Not unless you also give it the special, which requires research. The standard version should work fine by just copying the Romulan weapon over the Federation one. You'd only need to make your own version of the weapon if you wnat to change the name.

Lol, effects of diplomatic resolve are:

-A ceasefire is made for 45 minutes.
-All players must meet at the unity station and talk out their problems instead of fighting.
-a 450 ship fleet of npc U.N peacekeeper ships fly in and enforce peaceful play. (you can only mine resources, and scout)

I was thinking more of the customary "Phasers full spread!!" style diplomacy.  :whistling:
