Query re UtriBeam - how do you tie in the textures/animation

I've done a bit of tinkering with odfs etc to modify weapons, ships and stations. I'm trying to look at how the UtriBeam works with different effects.

I looked at the fed_plasma_coil and followed through the weapon & ordnance files, then through the effect_pcoil finally to fed_plasma_coilA and its ordnance file. I can't see where the animation is tied to the weapon or ordnance files.

I can find reference to effect_plasmacoil in the sprties file but I must be missing something obvious because I can't see where the different bits are tied together

Any suggestions or advice??
