Hey, I do quite a bit of modding to Fleet Ops 3.13 that I run. I know how to make new phasers and torpedoes no problem...however, how could i make a point defense phaser.
I know in 3.13 point defense is not present anymore (i know it has been brought back in 3.15 but I am not redoing all my work...its taken me over a year). So how can i turn a phaser into point defense. I don't want to make it a special weapon with a button, just a normal Joe-Blo phaser that can only shoot down missiles/torpedoes.
ALSO...side question, The Sovereign class special attack that disables engines. How can i make it disable engines for longer. Right now i think they stay offline for 8 seconds or so, how could i make that 20 seconds?

This is the entry in the guide for the pointdefenselaser - in 3.1.3 it would not work with units that rank up however. The ordnance file should use the PDLbeam classlabel. However, it will shoot down pulses, misiles, and torpedoes if they are using the unitorpedo classlabel. To make it not a button, you can set that or not accordingly: Weapon - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations

To increase the disabling time you'll want to go into fed_distortionAo and find this line
Incidentally, you should be able to move most of your files into 3.1.5 fairly easily depending on what exactly you are planning

Wouldn't most of my ODF files conflict with new weapon textures since then, new special weapons, and other new files?

You can always download 3.1.5 into a separate directory and see what works and doesn't
. 3.1.4 and .5 didn't add many weapon textures (only the Borg torpedoes were changed I believe), and only a few new weapons were added as well as I recall

Well I added point defense back in...at least in the ODFs, but it doesn't work. I made the "Classlabel" pdlaser and it still doesn't work.
Remember i don't want it to be a special weapon...what am I missing?

Look for special = 1 in the main odf and change the 1 to 0. It should function as a regular weapon that way.

I actually just took a regular phaser and added the PDlaser class label to it.
I wanted it to be a "gattling phaser." Only for very close range.
