Some may remember a mod I was working on a long while ago to add a 3rd Avatar to the Fed side, it was a personal touch that I wanted to give to the game and see if I could get certain things to work the way I wanted to and still potentially have a balanced avatar for multiplayer games.

The short version was it would be an avatar reliant completely on warp-in ships for offense, but would have a total of three stations fueling ship 'production' two for regular ships, and the third for more specialized vessels like the descent, teutoberg, etc...

Anyway, the first problem I had, and couldn't overcome at the time, was that I wanted a Starbase that would have a total of 3 offensive upgrades, and only 1 defensive upgrade, Well that worked well enough, until you tried to get that third offense upgrade, then the game would crash, whether or not the defensive one had been researched.

Was hoping someone would have some pointers for what I need to look out for when I try this a second time.

You may wanna look through your replaceweapon files. I have that same problem once in a while, and after a careful search, I usually find that I misspelled something. (usually the ship/station I'm replacing to)

Look through your files carefully and check to make sure everythings set. Also dont forget to make sure the weapon is in the tech tree. While your ship/station doesnt need to be, the weapon does.

Best advice I can give.

Heh, ironic that when I went and did it again it worked just fine, maybe a couple hours after asking that question. Now I just need to work on the mod some again.

If the problem is intermittent it could also be the length of your odf names. I know making even one too long can cause very strange crashes that are almost impossible to track down otherwise. :)
