hey guys on a new system as old system decided to die and i cant remember what programme i used for opening the odf's, tried everything i have in office and even a few online programmes that are mean to open odf's but no joy, what does everyone else use for opening and editing the odf's?

As they're just text files any simple text editor will do. If you want simple, Notepad will work. If you want something a little better there's Notepad++ (Google it if you're not familiar with it). I wouldn't use Word or a word processor though; they aren't really designed for code type things.

if you're talking about ms office, then that should have opened any fleetops odf without problem, the odfs (at least the small sample i tested) are just ansi (win 1252) text files, word shouldn't even ask you to deal with character encoding.
but as atlantis says, don't use word for it, use notepad/notepad++
remember that you'll have to extract the odfs first if they are contained in odf.fpq, only fpqedit.exe can handle the fpq archive.

Atlantis didn't say anything yet. :-P
But yeah, Notepad. I seem to recall someone was working on an ODF helper plugin for Notepad++, but not sure if that ever got finished. Either way, Notepad is the easiest option. :-)

I'm using Notepad to edit the ODF files from ST Armada 2 or fleet Ops :-)
