Is there any available modding guide? The Hichiker site is down, the links I found on the site are broken... Where can I learn the FO code?

One of these days the community modders will make a modding guide.  One of these days.... :whistling:

Yeah, don't spread rumors K_merse  . Just kidding :D . The guide moved a few months back - AII files should have released my announcement on that then ... but you know...  . The first page of the guide has several links to important modding services - as Myles hinted at, I'd suggest perusing Blade's modding wiki which has a list of many odfs. If you need personal help I'd talk to The Undying Nephalim, Tyler, Blade, Adm. Zaxxon, Atlantis, and Ryderstorm. As far as I know they are all experienced FO modders who should be ale to give insights :) . Once against I'd really really like it if there could be some group effort to get a guide set up, just like we all did for the original Fleet Ops guide  :whistling:

If you collect these people, count me in  As long as they help me as well of course  :whistling:
I'm ready to help the fellow modders to learn FO coding, because it's far more complex than the standard Armada II code, but you can make more from it as well.

But how could we do that without any basis source? We don't even know how many construction slots a starbase has....

Well, I suggest that everybody who knows a tidbit write it down when they think of it, and post it in the guide's subforum. I'll police that thread (s) and add the information together and put it on the guide :). With luck later today you should see Adm. Zaxxon's burgeoning guide on the HH's Guide as well as some information from Blade's modding wiki better organized and more clearly explained (I hope). It's a start, but it's up to everyone to add their knowledge together.

Heh, unfortunately it doesn't have anything on odf's yet.  That is such a broad section that I doubt it will get done anytime soon.  A group effort would definitely help for that section.

And just to be clear, the parts I have written are only a disection of whats there.  Later I will write a part that explains how to add new features to the game, how to make buttons rather than just how they work, ect.

I am not that great at composing How-to's but I will add my knowledge where and when I can.

All you have to do is describe some things - don't worry too much about the language - the important thing is to start :)
