Mixed Tech Refitting....

I have been working with my Nor station for some time..... I ran into a problem.... first, I am trying to figure out the mixed tech thing... second of all, I'm trying to implement this for the refit system of the Nor starbase.

It is supposed to work like this.... there are these refits that will refit the station to mix it with other races' tech. The problem is that I want it to where the refits can only be applied to its corresponding race and/or an ally of its corresponding race.

For Example:
You were Federation, your allys are Klingons and Dominion... you can only use the Federation, Klingon, and Dominion refit abilities because it corresponds with your mixed tech.

I would like a lot of help to implement this... devs, modding pros, and those who happen to know, PLEASE HELP!

Set it up in the same way as the Romulan Refit system, but with 2 seperate versions of the refit weapon; 1 that requires you be allied using the same code as the Ally Mixed-Tech Yards and 1 that requires the 'Analyze Alien Tech' research.

i do not think that this is what he has in mind however their is a peice of code that is something like BuildableByOwnerRraceOnly. or something like that do some checking in the builder ship files there is something in their that says how to use it.

That would be useless to Mixed-Tech... The Federation can't use things marked as Klingon or Dominon.

I was under the impression that he was looking to mix the capture's tech with that of the Nor station am i mistaken
EDIT never mind i see now anyway that would still be the way to do it for your own race.
As for allies and the like. Do as tyler said and use something like Fed_mixedtechyard = 1 in the TT file.

Actually, I'm slightly confused too... the third paragaph sounds like Mixed-Tech, but the second sounds race specific.

Supposedly, it works like this... the station is to be refitted with the technology of it's captors race. And along with it any tech that the captor's race would happen to have available via mixed tech. So you can refit it to be either of your own tech or of your ally's tech.

I don't know if that would be practical... You'd need 5 'OwnerRace' buttons (for when it changes ownership) and 5 Mixed-Tech buttons (though not including the race that owns the station in that one).

5 Mixed-Tech ones requiring the 'Analyze Tech' research should work, but what if you take a modified one and want to change it? The Refit odf would need to allow that.

Im so confused......so if the station is captured u want to be able to refit it with ur own tech plus orignal races tech and ur allies?

Example:

Nor station under fed control with klingon ally gets captured by romulans. In this case you want to be able to refit the station with romulan fed and klingon tech? But only specific to whichever race holds the station right?

If thats all you do then you would be able to researched all of them one you researched the analyze tech. because analyze tech is not specific to any one race. If you wanted to make it correctly then you would need both the mixed tech yard and the analyze tech.

I know the research effects all of them, wha I meant is aout wanting to change a already refitted one after taking that one. You'd be limited to what the original owner chose, unless you add the refit option to every refit station.
