Is there a maximum number of weapons that a ship can have.

I don't think so.  Half of mine in my BSG addon have ~40 weapons and it causes no problems.  I hope anyway.

I've seen things with more weapons than the Scimitar before.

I think there is, because some of my ships (and a few stations) have different special weapons, some have alot and others don't, but some don't show up, sometimes its the weaker ones or one takes the place of another.

Are you talking about in Fleet Ops or regular Star Trek Armada II? My answer goes to Star Trek Armada II because I'll admit, I don't know much about Fleet Ops yet.

Are you counting only special weapons or all weapons?

Could this be a buttonslot problem? I think if two special weapons have the same buttonslot index only one will show. I may be wrong though.

Hey,  was just a question for Adm Zaxxon, I noticed the BSG quote in your icon I while ago, and now how you mention your BSG addon? I'm guessing it is something youve had custom done yourself or something. Would it be possible to put a vid up on utube or something, or maybe some pics on here of a fight? It would be awesome to see a battlestar with 40 weapons on something like this game. (like nukes and cannon fire or something is it?) I'm actually a big BSG fan as well, I own the series on dvd.

One thing I always wished theyd done, was show a fight from the early war, with maybe five battlestars against several basestars, with wings of vipers and raiders. All it ever was, was one or ...two battlestars near the end, but it would be great if we had been able to see what a real fight looked like when things were more even.

Well if it is possible, I wouldnt be picky about a scene, just maybe a few battlestars against a few baseships, not sure if vipers are included.. no big deal just for fun. If not, no worries, but neat idea bringing BSG into this sort of game.

I believe buttonslot would be to blame for that overlapping, on both stock and FO.

I believe you are right on that, any ideas on how to fix that though so it won't interfere with other ships or stations using those weapons?

Is there a way to fix that possibly?

Don't repeat the buttonslot number. A different number should make them show up.

Does that by any chance mean that I should edit all the Special Weapons that take up a button spot so that their buttonslot numbers are different? (As in so there are no duplicates?)

Yes. FO goes up to at least 200 and their weapons don't overlap.

All.  The reason some won't show up is because you prally have conflicting button slot numbers.  The ones that come first will not show up.

Well, you are in luck!  That is exactly what my mod is about.   :D  There is a thread on this site, but here is another forum with more info on it.

I need to get someone to make another, more current one though. :innocent:

Oh yeah, and i do plan on releasing this. :sweatdrop:

Hey,

Wait, so are you intending to make a downloadable version for this that we can play off of A2 CD? That would be crazy awesome... if not still but no that looks really good. I noticed that one pic of the jumps.. thats crazy, I didnt even think of that until I saw that. Can have them jumping across the map in a second.

Just curious about a couple things, so is the map fairly large then? You would think with that kind of range *just jumping whereever, it would have to be pretty big... like if I jump from one side of the map to the other, it should be big enough that the only way they can come after me is if they jump to, or spend a heck of a long time getting to the other side the regular way. Like in A2, you have transwarp jump and you can go anywhere in a second, but on most regular sized maps, you can get from one side to the other within min or so, so it is a temporary speed advantage. Don't really know if this makes senses, but yeah. Like if in BSG you can chase them easily just by moving the ship, i dunno, the jumping isnt as great, maybe it works out ok, but should be able to get a few seconds safety by jumping. But yeah be interesting playing a game where all units have that kind of ability.

Also, for special weapons, you could have defense ability that helps a battlestar create a shield with all the flak firing of weapons they do that reduce incoming missiles that make a hit. I really liked the scenes that had that in the shows. One of my favourite scenes was the very first episode set, where the battlestar is coming out from the armory, and it shows those two missiles that go out from the battlestar, and then they zoom out and show them just exploding in the middle of no where. Just anti-missile firing, I really liked that.

Haha, and that stealth fighter they made to do all the re-con. Haha, I'm sure you are having loads of fun making this. I'm already thinking about whole bunch of stuff, but I have no real technical gifts for making this kind of stuff.

But hey, Cheers, your stuff looks really good.

Wow, great minds think alike I guess.  (BTW, don't mean to hijack the thread)  This mod will be installed ontop of the latest version of Fleet operations.

Yeah, my latest version lets you make small jumps and long jumps based on map size.  Most combat is at sublight, but jumping can help get you out of trouble and move you across vast distances.  Most ships are equipped with different ranged FTL, but only according what they had in the show.  My hope is to create battles like what could have been in the show.

Heh, yep, that will be coming in the next FO patch when they make point defence cannons usable again.  Are you somehow intercepting my private messages?  Are you secretly a cylon?!? :2guns:  Be caurful, because I might have to go Starbuck on your Raider bum! >:D

Yep, I have ships that launch those too. :D  because of their stealth Technology, they are hard to hit by enemy fighters, and don't show up on the minimap. :D  A fleet of them can be a real pain to those Cylon scum.

And thanks, I hope it gets done soon and you get to have as much fun as I am having making it.
