Okay to directly answer your question, if I implement both sides, the Lyrans will be fully playable in instant action and multiplayer, but the Terran Empire will only be playable in instant action.

Thanks. I'm sorry if I sounded Impolite. I'm actualy verry nice and sort of not good with typing my tunes.

I would like it for the sake of the terran fans for someone to figure out how to ad more then 8 multiplayer factions.
It does not have to be you though. But you could if you wanted to.

Note as of now. I'm 14. 15 on may 28th.

Right, well tis decided. Lyrans for race 8, and I might add Terrans at Race 9 (or maybe just some map ships, either way I like their style so some more of them are going in there :) )

What about the Terran Empire? They could gate in like Tholian ships, which would be a nice touch. Perhaps they could have a FleetOps style "Warp-in" where they open a gate to the Mirror Universe and a random vessel responds.


I had that same idea for my mod. I dont know if it will truly work, but it might.

In the Reman Rebellion mod on Armada2files, they have a special weapon on a ship that gates in some Terran Empire ships, but only two, also adds Terran as a race with those two ships being in it.

Well, I have a weapon like that for the ISC, bringing in an Imperial "Star Empire" Class Dreadnought. What I was meaning was a Fleet-Ops style warp-in whereby you spend some resources to have a random ship join your side (rather than as an enemy who attacks everyone)

My idea was an animation sequence where the ship warps in. (flash for FO, warp tunnel for my mod)

It is designed so the ship can be replaced easily, with the warp tunnel/flash being the only part that is different.

Best way to describe:
Player orders a ship to warp in. 'Warp in' object is spawned and moves to designated posistion. (Is invisable) Object replaces itself with a new model. (This model is a ship jumping out of warp) As soon as the animation is done, the model is, again, replaced with the proper ship model.

This can be rigged with every race. The Terran Empire, for example, will have a rift appear, depositing the ship in space before disappearing.

That was an idea for my mod, where a warp tunnel would open up, a ship would come out, and the tunnel would close. It's easy to make, though animating it, and making the game use it is the hard part.

By any chance, how do you make a Warp TunneL?

Well, I need to do some testing, but here's what I think.

Rather then make a true tunnel, as the exterior would be invisible, not the inside, I would make a sprite. This would be animated and mapped to a flat area, with the ship being 'squashed' on it. :pinch:

To make it seem like the ship's coming out of the tunnel, the flat ship would start out tiny and get larger within a few frames. Then, when it reaches the proper 1:1 size, it will, in two frames, 'jump into normal space', or extend to look like normal. ;)

The ship then moves to the origin point, where the sprite is shown disappearing and the model is replaced with the normal ship. 8)

This is just theory. (I get a lot of them at work) I don't know if it will actually work. If someone, like Mr. Vulcan, could test this for me, then it would probably look great. If not, then I'll be testing it myself soon. (Dont ask how soon, as my ability to use MAX is unpredictable)

Might be simpler to use the wormhole dynamic and have the ship appear out of a 3d swirling object.

True, but this looks cooler.

In my mod, the ships would be coming out of a tunnel of multiple colors, mostly blue or yellow. This also lets modlers test how well they can animate a model and match it to its game counterpart, and lets them figure out how to do it right.
