I was attempting to make a new mixed tech k'vort, the goal was to make the fictional huge one. but it refused to work. No typos, all names and things were where they needed to be...I think it was the scalesod. Does screwing with the scalesod when the ship is based off another ship the reason for this issue?

Any insight would be appreciated.

yes, scalesod is broken. i have recently fixed the problem with it :) so next patch will have it working. as workaround, make a copy of the k'vort sod file and redirect your odf to it.
the problem originated from a caching mechanism in fleet operations to improve SOD model load times. overall it works quite well, except it didn't reload a model properly when a rescaled version is being used. :P :)

Thank you! The workaround actually sounds really simple, I can't believe I didn't think of that before. Lol...

I can't wait untill the next patch comes out, with the amount of completed tasks that have been done since 3.2.5, I'm guessing we're all in for some pretty exciting stuff  :D

Hmm, it didn't work. I copied the kvort's sod and renamed it...Should I have left the sod named as the kvort?
