Hi, just wondering if there needs some special hardcoding to have hotkeys for say modded units. I'd like to see if I could assign a hotkey to spacedock for the construction ship for easy access... or say assign hotkeys to mixed-tech units.
I tried just adding the hotkey line to the odf and it didn't work.
just wondering if there is anything short of editing the fleetops.exe and maybe .dll files to have that ability

Hotkeys are in the 'Input' file in the main directory. You can edit it with notepad and wordpad.

like tyler said in the input.map just remove the # (comment) and on the hotkeys you want reenabled

Since a Hotkeys topic is already started, I guess it is the right place for my only question involving Hotkeys and Star Trek Armada II.
What I want to know is:
"Can the hotkeys code (text) be removed from the ODF files so it doesn't bother showing up in the game or will doing this cause a crash?
I only want to know because I don't use the Hotkeys in my game, and I was wondering if I could just remove them to clear up space and just to not have them appear ingame.
If this is possible, is there an easier way to go about doing this than removing that text code from every ODF file for every ship and station?

I don't think removing the line will effect the game in any bad way. If you'd rather not take the chance, replacing the hotkey with a blank one should remove it.
It should also be impossible to simply toggle them off, you'd have to remove each. I'd keep them though, they could be useful in a pinch.

I haven't fully made my decision on them yet, but for now I might jsut keep the Hotkeys ingame but maybe run a few tests with some removed eventually to see how they affect the game.

u can remove the line from the odf and thats fine but even with the line removed if a hotkey is set then you can still use it (they are usefull anyway

Thank you for letting me know that. I've always been worried if a small change like removing code from an ODF file would have any effect of the game.
Mostly I'm using existing HardPoints and adding additional Weaponry but I have done a few other surprise coding here and there, (You'll have to be interested in downloading a Alpha Testing version of my mod to see any of that though. If you want to send me a PM or an e-mail and I can send a link to the download file on MegaUpload in return).

if ur not sure about removing lines place // in front of the line or value that you want to remove or change as this makes the line or value a comment and ignored
eg
//dilithiumcost = 30
thid ignores the line dilithiumcost
dilithiumcost = 50 //30
this ignores the numbers 30
eg
//dilithiumcost = 30
thid ignores the line dilithiumcost
dilithiumcost = 50 //30
this ignores the numbers 30
