I have been working with several 3d programs and have been wanting to work on some of the models in this magnificent mod, Either replacing them with ultra high poly ships and stations with insane texture sizes for those of us who have computers to handle it, not only would I like to put together such a pack I would eventually like to make it myself over time ( I know modeling takes a long time and it can be rather frustrating ) but I'm willing to learn, and I don't want to learn overnight, I want to know how all of this stuff is done, and I hope that replacement of the models wont affect the online compatibility of fleetops cause I really like this game and don't want to loose compatibility with the rest of the community, cause there are very few of us to be lucky enough to have a powerful system.

Unfortunatly I doubt that this can be done without loosing comptibility. As far as I know the only files you can exchange are the music files. Sorry for the bad news.

Even if its just the sod files? It still would be nice for those of us that want a little eye candy...

Replacing the sod files will lose compatibility. You can, however, replace the textures with insanely huge ones without losing compatability. The sod files are more important for compatibility than they might seem at first glance. You would have to make them the exact same width, length and height and have them use the exact same hardpoints (possibly in the exact same spots) to even have a chance of making them work. Even then, I'm guessing it probably wouldn't work.

Well, it's nice to know that I can at least re texture the models.
