Err... are bitmaps ok?

Well, I got an sod of an extremely good ship... however as I feared it uses bitmaps instead of Targas.

You can easily convert bitmaps to TGA using Paint.NET (free), Photoshop, GIMP, etc.

yeah, gimp is what I use. As long as you can edit the mesh so that it will look for the files with .tga instead of.bmp, then you are good.  nits fairly easy in ms3d, and It might be possible in assimview.

if using ms3d then converting the files over is easy 2 ways: 1) use the lifghtmap flip tool under the tools menu, 2) export as a sod ms3d will then convert for you (if u have the normal bmp in the upper material box and the spec in the lower one then it'll combine ineto a lightmap tga)

I already made converted versions (of the textures)... but the SOD wants the bitmap versions and not the targas.

The issue is that I have no model editing software... I have the original MS3D file if anyone could convert it. I can handle texturing on my own with conversion of images. It is just that the SOD wants bitmaps and I don't think it'd work with bitmaps.

So basically it is not the texture format that is the problem, it is the fact the SOD wants a format not compatible with the armada engine. And I can't edit sods since I don't have any Mesh editing software (only a hardpoint/node editor which does not change built-in node properties).

You could use a hex editor to edit the file - look for .bmp and change it to .tga. It should be quite simple to do, as you won't need to change the structure of the file at all.

the SOD format does not include file extensions, so your SOD cant want BMPs, there error must be somewhere else

oh... then maybe the person that converted the mesh must've forgot to reference the textures. :pinch:

EDIT: Would anyone be willing to take a crack at converting it for me?
