I've been looking at the cloak detection ODFs used in Fleet Operations, but I'm confused on how it works.  Can anyone give me a rundown on how the files are structured?

Also, how is it that you are able to make it so that some cloak detection systems only pick up certain cloaking systems but not others?  I am very confused on how this stuff works.

Pick a specific cloak system and I can try and explain :)

Standard Tachyon pings.  Why can't they detect Supreme Cloak?  And how would one prevent it from detecting subspace cloak (if that technology is ever implemented)?

Detection constraints are done via the validTargets ODF command.

I'll try and do a step by step analysis of the tachyon ping when I get home later today if nobody does so before :)

The EM ability, Remote Beacon, and Manual Targeting ability both use a slightly different system than the tachyon ping :)

Ok: so, a standard Tachyon Ping of a fed_platform_sensor.odf is initiated via replaceweapon in all_tachyon_pingM . This is set on a delay of firing every 10 seconds.

This calls the effect_cdM ultrititium unit into play, which fires off its animation (and weapon) all_tachyon_pingMA.

all_tachyon_pingMA is the cannonimp weapon that defines the validTargets, the hitmode, and the basetargets.

all_tachyon_pingSAo is the ordnance file that I think is responsible for the actual detect.
