can someone give me any instructions to add ships.....

hi,

i´ve download some ships here in the modding corner, but im not a modder, and i cant add them into my game.......are there any instructions to help me ???? i´ve tried so many ways to play some of those great ships in the game, but i cant do this, because im a non modder :) :(

i dont find some things with the searching function.. :blush:.do i need some special programms ?

(sorry for my english, im a small german ) :)

I think they come with instructions. some do at least if they don't i can't help you sorry (not a modder) but other than that im glad you like the game. Best mod for Armada 2 ever.

Weclome To the Fleetops family! you would be the 5th person I have helped learn to mod.  Any questions you have just ask me. :D

Ok, well first things first.  You need to locate your FO download.  usually located in your

C:/programfiles/activision/FleetOperations/Data

This is where almost all modding takes place.  I think all editing will be done with notepad.  The files you will be edeiting are called .odfs or Object Definition Files, .tt or TechTree files, .spr or sprite files, .h or C++ files(used for tooltips), .dat files(used for sound reference names) and .aip files, or Artificial Intelegents files (don't know what the p is for. :sweatdrop:)  Again, all these you can open with notepad, or a text editing program.

Before you do anything, you want to select the containing folder(the "Data" folder) And makesure it is NOT read only, otherwise you won't be able to save your work.

Next I would just suggest you 1, download a program capable of opening .rar, .ace, and .zip files.(it should be free)  and 2, I would suggest you download my miranda class from this modding section of the forum and attempt to install it.  Even if you don't want to use it, I still think you should try to do it.  That is the best way to learn IMHO.

I´ve already got a programm to open rar etc, but my problem are the odf`´s i cant open these kind of things.......

Just click 'em, and open them with Notepad. I hope that that works for you.

ok, with the editor it works to remove and save those downloaded files,I,ve tried it with the Prometheus class and i put all the files, where the explantion want, but i dont see a Prometheus class in my yards right now.... :(
did i forgot something to do ?

Did you add the Prometheus into all variations of the yard in question?

hmmm dont know what you mean.....i did anything, wich was standing in the readme / instructions, but no special thing to add it into the yards.......what i have to do ?

You need to open the shipyard odfs named fed_eraudi... and Fed_antaries... and add the name of your ship "fed_Prometheus" where it says "all_delay"

aaaaah, it works, im very proud:) i cant see the build icon in the yards, but the ship is allready flying, but its very slow, is that normal....and there is no button to seperate the modules and the tractor beam is not working...normal two ???

but it is a nice looking ship :) now im gonna try the other ones :)

you need to copy the right lines into the gui_global sprite.  Then you should be able to see the buildbuttons and wireframes.

The seperation isn't available until veterain, and I didn't know it had a tractor beam.  It I were you I would PM tyler your questions, because it is his mod. :sweatdrop:
