Hi all I have recently had an idea to try and get more people over to FO. I was thinking bout getting a group of modders from FO to do direct ports of the best and most desired mods from a2 into fo.

If there is anyone intrested in helping post here (also views and suggestions should be posted here aswell)

I can do texture improvements.... but please, I depend on pre-existing textures. I tried making up some and failed. :lol:

I can also do weapon and ship odf coding, as long as someone else does the hundreds of damage variations. It gets burdensome when you touch that. And it pains me to try... :crybaby:

well the main idea is to just do clean ports over (so you can play mods like borg incursion) using fo as a base instead of a2 (so not much real modding wud be required just converting the codes to be compatable (and gui's)

Honestly, I think the better solution would be to work on getting your a2 crossover mod finished. I know alot of people who can't wait for that because they will be able to use FO code for regular mods.  So, instead of making all mods work for FO, make FO compatable for the mods. 

The only reason i can see that someone wouldn't play FO anyway is because they couldn't. :D(usually based on graphical issues)

if the devs can get the folder settings bck to stock a2 (the odf folder has the default folder structure and the texture folder able to use the rgb folder and to get the odf commands back to wot they were in a2 instead of the fo renamed ones then the only main problem we wud have is the gui's
which has no fix since the cinematic window and the instant side tooltip have been removed

True, but I still think it was a great idea, and worked pretty well.  I supose the code names would be the most dificult names, but there is a list of the renamed ones.  Now all we need is, for new fo modder, a list of FO specific commands and examples of how they work and what they are used in.

yh but still a pain for ppl who just dnt get modding or dnt have time reorganising the files and editing all the files to include the renamed stuff or overrighting files (the sprite) files which then may break stuff doing  brining a mod over from a2-> fo wud still b difficult even with that mod thats y i suggested this instead (or aswell as) plus i dnt have time to finish that mod on my own atm

Blade, the A2 to FO mod is the best idea ever. I've been working on it for weeks now, and the only real problem left is the officer and resource problem. Doca Cola informed me that it can be corrected in the odfs, I just havn't had the time to pour over the odfs to find it. I've been working on some MMM stuff with Megadroid. But the A2 modified conversion of Fleet ops is all I play now. I even started integrating my own personal mod into it. Maybe someone could help us pinpoint the odfs we need to alter to get the officers and resources back to stock A2. I have already altered the resource symbols in the GUI to reflect the change, its sitting waiting for me to figure it out so I can add it to the game.

i can get officers bck just cnt get the different starting choice bck and unfortuantly u cnt rename the resource codes bck to stock a2 but u can rename there tool tips, the main problem is that i dnt have time to work on it, missions just dnt wk and the idea was to allow ppl to play full a2 and install a2 mods but due to folder renames and code rename (plus fo arnt compatable wit old guis) means that other mods wont wk without big changes (annoing for new modders and some experienced modders)


However if you guys still wanna work on and expand that mod its fine by me and i'll help wen ever i get sum free time to
