I don't think you need to give it any disadvantage, it already loses access to all weapons and specials when it's active. It's already defenceless.

I didn't think it was possible to attack it when the holo-projector was active though? it essentially made it an invincible spy as nothing could damage it.

I could be wrong though it's been a while since I've played stock A2

When the Generator is turned on, all weapons are disabled just like a cloak unless the turned off. Then it can't be attacked by any enemy of that team, other teams or players without allies you still have to look out for.

The generator is probably bugged though, whenever I use it in stock the selected enemy still attack me.

Wow, that's all I can say wow. I would love to know who you managed that. Another holy grail in modding which has seem to be conquered.

I also attacked images of the Incursion class that Jetfreak and I did together. Since Adm_Z mentioned it on the last page.

I believe Westworld has the answer to your questions  ;)

Unfortunately the idea you have will not work, basically because there is no way to link the sods together the way you suggest.
Now what I originally tried, which was a similar idea but all in 2 sods, the sods were animated to look like the armor coming on and off. Using a fusion weapon to activate the animation and change the sod to an armored version of the first model.

so it went like this:
1. activate fusion weapon
2. weapon activates animation in sod 1 (unarmored version with armor deploying animation)
3. fusion weapon changes ship from sod 1 to sod 2 (sod 2 armored ship with animated armor retraction)
4. Sod 2 also has a fusion weapon, working the opposite way.

Now, this method basically worked, but the model I used (not my model) didn't have the greatest animation in it, and controlling the animation speed and play time was difficult, it did not look as good as it could have.
The main problem is the animation in the sod, since Armada does not support face or vertex animation, only scaling and model part animation, it is hard to animate the armor in one sod.
I do not think that animated armor would be a completely impossible thing to do, I could probably do it if I had a good model to start with (I stink at making Star Trek models or I would have done it already), and added the animation myself starting from scratch, since the first time I tried I was using someone else's model and animation. I don't mind using someone else's model but I would have to do the animation myself to get it to work the way I hoped it would.

If someone has a nice Intrepid model & texture in max format and would like to send it to me to work with, I wouldn't mind having a go at making the animated armor, it should be possible to do.

The only difference is I'm using the replace weapon rather than the fusion weapon.

As far as the models go I think I'm going to have a go at retexturing both the armor and the ship myself as it's something I've never been very good it. It will also give me the chance to add in the blue flashes.

Too many pieces to start with being I wasn't sure it would work well. The incursion is a simple shape pretty much flat no nacelles etc. I did plan at the time to do the intrepid after if it worked out but I'm not sure if I'm going to or not any more.
