A1 mods in A2

lately I have put A1 models in my A2 game and they don't crash!! Yes I did edit the Textures, odf files and sometimes sod (2 of the same ship with 2 different textures) files.

You can use A1 SODs in A2 with no problem. The only issues that arise are that A1 SODs use alpha layers as transparency rather than light maps, and as such do not light up properly with external light sources (i.e they use !lambert settings rather than !phong)
