Here are the stock ODFs from version 3.2.5 in a solid 7-zip archive.

Thank you Miles for this, it's much appreciated.
Oh by the way, winrar also can extract 7-zip archives.

though i see nothing wrong with that, isn't FPQedit enough to get the odfs?

no problem, several programs have support for the 7-zip format. i listed one that's free. winrar isn't free.

this is the reason for the archive:
Majestic wrote:I unfortunately had nothing but problems with the odf archive and program since it's introduction. Crash after crash. It doesn't matter if I extract one odf or the lot. It has really slowed down my odf modding and I have focused mainly on modelling and texturing work.
maj couldnt get fpqedit to work for him, maybe other people have crashes too. plus there are a few other marginal advantages:
- smaller size archive, i dont run fleetops or have fleetops installed on my laptop, but keeping a copy of the odfs handy for looking up numbers is useful. modders might also make mods on a computer they dont actually play the game on.
- the fpqedit program isnt to everyone's taste, with a widely supported archive format people can use the file manager they are used to.

it is nice to have them all in one folder. it is some times dificult to manage a bunch of open text documents, and then fpq edit when all I am doing is looking for a specific line of code. Thanks myles.

interesting. found an issue on extracting, but seems only to occur on my xp test machine. i'll investigate and fix that bug. also fixed some other minor annoyances with fpqedit for the next version.
btw. it is still possible very easy to edit files in the fpq archive. just open a file, edit it and save. fpqedit will monitor if a file has been changed and asks whether to update your change back to the archive.

I tested fpqedit on win7 64.
Maybe it's just xp. Majestic were you getting the crashes on xp?
Does fpqedit use any third party redistributables such as .net framework? Maybe the xp version of something like that is bugged.

nope, xp seems to handle some window messages differently. that part of fpq edit was still WIP anyway, i just finished up writing a better version of the extraction routine.

thanks for the info, i've added a bug to the table that fpqedit sometimes crashes when extracting on xp machines. i've put it in as "fixed" cos im assuming the new better version of the extraction routine will fix the bug.

I had a lot of problems extracting more than one file at a time with the fpqedit program. I think I finally figured out that it doesn't work if you already have the destination folder open.
I'm using Windows 7.

Don't get me wrong the program is a good idea it just pretty unusable for me due to the crash problem. If the program gets developed more I would like to see the odfs in alphabetical order as well as this crash fixed!
But not when you're doing a total conversion and got new odfs. I rarely do small mods I am usually doing full race or total conversion mods and as such editing existing odf's it's much of an option for me. I either have to open up a odf from the archive and copy the contents to a blank odf or search through my temp files to find the odfs. Either way is a long and painful way of doing it.
No as I use Vista Ultimate 64Bit.

the version deployed with 3.2.5 should sort files in alphabetical order, you can also sort by other categories, too. but yes, earlier versions lacked this feature.
the fix should work with vista, too. on my other xp virtual machine this didn't occur, so it seems to be very system dependent. there was definitively a crash bug in it. i am sure i have got this resolved now. i'll see if i can deploy an updated (beta) version later on for everyone to test.

That is great news about the crash bug being resolved, I look forward to the next version.

cleaned up the thread a bit from vista bashing
yes, this confirms it, that this is heavily system dependent problem and not directly OS related.
Thanks everyone for your reports, we'll see if the test version helps later on.
anyway, if anyone find a bug in FO, even if it is in FPQEdit, feel free to open a thread in 'technical stuff'.

I'll edit the bugs table when I get home. Even my droid smartphone can't make editing large tables easy.
