Does anyone have a link to, or would anyone be willing to write up a basic map-making tutorial?

I've just tried to make my first map, and instead of ending up with twp teams starting on opposite ends of the map, their basses were right on top of each other blasting away at each other. So, the ability to set start points, start resources, etc, would be muchly appriciated.

The threads on the board and the map read me file taught me how to place objects, but not much more than that. I figured out how to name my map on my own, but am having trouble getting much beyond that.

Help greatly appriciated in advance!

I found loading one already created, then modding it, makes sure you dont have that Base pile-up problem.

I havent found a workaround for the re-naming it so it shows up that way in the Games Map list, but you can see the one I made from a Blue Amber map here:

Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Celestial Soup [NEW MAP]!!!!

If you put it in the bzn file, it will show up in the Game Map list, but it's name will be Blue Amber in the Editor....
Weird, but it plays wonderfully!
Hopefully this is a good shortcut idea for you to start with until someone DOES compile a "how to..." section.

is there any real tutorial? i just tried the mapeditor out, and got lost after a few seconds, cause i didnt know how to handle the tools...
is it possible in any way to add a lil simple UI, where you just have to click a thing and place it, or throug drag n drop?
i just dont get it with the f-keys and cursors and changing size and missing the back key for the tools and all that stuff.
