Before i tell you guys my idea, i just wanted to say what an awesome job you guys are doing with fleetops. It's far beyond anything I could hope to achieve, and probably most of the armada community as well. Keep up the good work!

Anyway, my idea was this: what if, when you enter a nebula that deals damage, you see the shields start dully glowing as if they are trying to stave off the effects of the nebula. It would add that authentic touch!

What about in the Tetrion nebula? Would it possible for the lightening flashes within be 'attracted' to the ship that passes through it?

Maybe they have an AOE Weapon that only produces a dull glow in a nebula? Perhaps you could create a shield sprite that's triggered when you entered the area?

i had the idea of creating an invisible sod with one hard point and giving it a lightning strike weapon. That could be one way to do it.

How would you get it to attack? Unless it was a generic "angry gaia" npc race....

yeah thats what you would do. then you set it to phase cloak (to hide from sensors and anti cloak tech). And set it to not target-able and invincible.
