I was wondering, is it possible to set "paths" for ships to follow to get around asteroid belts and such, or is pathing done 100% automatically by the game? I'm asking because on my map, Perimeter, telling your ships to go into the middle of the map from behind the wall of asteroids sometimes makes them continuously bump head-on into the asteroids...  :hmmm:

I should've been more specific, I meant in the map editor, but I guess that always works.

i think you can just click on map then click that dot and drag it so there is a line between 2 dots and it should automatically be called path_1

Yes you can set up paths by using the alt button, but doesn't that crash the game?

No, I used paths in my Premonitions mission. I think there is a crash if you make it an asteroid belt though.

so the ship will follow that path that you lay out in the map editor?

Oh. Sorry, I don't know about that, I just made paths and used them from script. I didn't actually think to do that

In the stock STA2, there is no crash for placing nebula fields or asteroid belts using paths.  Try to do it in fleet-ops, and you'll crash every time.

In fleet-ops, it's better to use paths for advanced tactical maneuvers or cineractive views.  Nothing else.
