Out of Sync

Do you have a question on map editing, how use the map manager or want to make your new map public? Post here.

I have seen numerous posts about wormholes causing OoS problems during testing of the maps.  I have created maps without wormholes that have caused this. On maps where wormholes do seem to cause a problem I have deleted the wormhole and it still has the problem. I have also deleted all nebulae from the map (gotta try everything) and still no luck. After a while I began to realize something:

[tt]When I create a new map there is almost always OoS. When I edit a map included with FO I NEVER experience OoS regardless of what I put in the map.[/tt]

Could someone else look to see if this also happens to them? I am not certain that this is the cause of the problem, however when tests are repeated (as I have) and the same results occur (as they did in my case) I must assume that this is the cause of my problem due to consistency of of my findings.

Are you sure you aren't using a mod when someone else is using a different mod?  Some "cosmetic" mods have a tendency to conflict with each-other and cause out-of-sync errors when something happens that the other computer is not expecting.  Even if you are using stock Fleet Operations, maybe someone is using a mod that is causing a conflict.  The only thing that I can think of that could cause this is a mod conflict.

Well, try checking the game latency by pushing "Alt+T."  Everyone should have a latency under 250 milliseconds.  The ReTx value should be relatively static with everyone as well.  If the game goes out of sync, chances are, someone's latency will have a value of several minutes with an ReTx increasing quickly.

Those are the only things I can think of that would cause this.

Mod Free. The exact same instillation on both computers. I always test with another human and 1 AI. Generally I dont even touch the controls I just sit and wait for several minutes untill an OoS appears.  When I edit a stock map I can even add wormholes, npcs (testing), and heavy nebulae (again just for testing, usually). The game runs well enough for me to add 4-6 AI and actually play the game after I finish a 20 minute test. I personally don't understand it. My knowledge of computers tells me that this should be able to work. I am going to delete everything in a FO stock map and create a new map from that. If this works then there may be a problem with the editor, at least on the installation that I have, saving the maps.  "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." (Doyle) If the map works perfectly yet again I will notify you (the forum) of my results and suggest that people with OoS problems on their creations attempt the same.

Could you upload the map that causes the out of sync error?

I've noticed AIs almost always give an OoS during games. I don't know why though :(

Out of all my online games since fleet ops 3.2.0 iv never had a OoS without an AI, but I would say 70% of my AI games end with OoS.

It's been a while since I played with AIs online, but I can't ever recall them going OOC before they were crushed into oblivion. Did this start in a more recent version, Unleash?

Yes. I have a theory that it is the new refit system, possibly on the newtons but I'm not sure.

As Megadroid stated, if you upload the map that causes the issue we can look at it and generate some OOS logs and see what causes them .

Hello, I am the "other human" Unbelievably... speaks of.  There were multiple maps actually, but since he isn' t replying I'll upload them.  I'm completely clueless as to what could be causing this, any help would be greatly appreciated.  Now that I think about it the OoS may be caused by the derelict NPC's.  I'd like to note that these maps aren't made to look good, they're just sort of proof of concept.
