Map Symmetry?

I've noticed that some maps are perfectly symmetric. How is this possible?

By using exact coordinates for map objects, if thats what you meant?

or, you can start placing your, say asteroid belt, at the top of the map then pres the down arrow key, and keep on creating an asteroid an asteroid field until you are at the bottom.  then you will have a straight line.
