making derilects

is it possible to have a 8 player map AND have crewless deralects to beam a away team over to so you can claim it as your own. 

the more i think about it, all the maps i've seen that have that are only 4 player or less.

assigning it to team 0  precieved team 0,  is just like the Ferengi ships.  you beam people over, adn it is a "ferengi ship".

assigning to team 8 precieved tem 8  and only haveing 4 of 8 people in the game makes all of the darelicts disappear.

any assistance would be great

8 Player + captureable derelicts doesn't work... You need at least 1 team slot that isn't used.

actually there will b a fee space 0-8 i think deralicts count as 0

Derelicts count as the team they're put on, and only count as team 0 if put on team 0 (unless you set 'percieved team' to 0).

i tried team 0  precieved team 0  but when i beam people over testing it,  i dont have control.  nor do the enemy bases fire at anyone.

i was thinking i would have to loose team 8 and use that as the deilects, i was just wondering if there was a way around that.

some way to "fix" team 0 to be capturable,  or  team 0  precieved team (some other number)  would make it work

dont know.  looking for a "neat little trick"

The way it is now, Team 0 cannot be taken, no matter what 'trick' you try (that includes Team 0, Percieved Team X). If it was possible, there wouldn't have been complaints about taking Fereni Scavengers...

Using a playable slot for derelicts is the only way. Team 1-8 Percieved Team 0 would allow boarding while preventing the AI and your ships from attack them without a direct order, even on Search and Destroy (Non-derelicts set like that can still hit others though).

One way to do this is to ask the Devs to make an unplayable but not 0 team... good luck with that though... :(

well, that IS the magic answer, thank you tyler.

i thought that would be the case,  and thats fine,  i was just looking for a little trick that isn't there.


just to be uber clear...

team 8 precieved team 0  no crew on board,  i can beam over and take it as my own
team 8 precieved team 8  with crew,  will attack anyone (except derilect team 8 precved 0)?

Team 8, Percieved Team 0 - It attacks you/the AI like a regular AI if it isn't derelict (which I learned the hard way with a Starbase), you/the AI don't attack it unless directly ordered, even in Search and Destroy.
Team 8, Percieved Team 8 - No different to a regular 'player' ship.
