How to use derelicts?

Do you have a question on map editing, how use the map manager or want to make your new map public? Post here.

I haven't found an introduction on how to use derelict creation yet, so can somebody tell me?

(PS: that trigger of the map editor)

(PS 2: all my attempts make the game crash)

Hmm i think i have only used that once.. and it crashed... so i don't know how to use them.. but if anyone knows i would be glad to learn how!

Ditto.  If it crashes with those, then that would explain why a lot of my maps don't work. :rolleyes:

I have never gotten them to work so i never use them. You can place derelicts by placing a ship and then double clicking on it to set the crew at 0 and put it on a team. team 0 won't work because you can't capture them but 1-8 works just fine.

plce a derelict creation trigger. double click it. change it's label attribute to the desired odf name you'd like to spawn (for example fed_akira) and thats it

well, I've tried that label changing on trigger but the game crashes anyway..., Could You guys make a small map with derelicts created just for us to have an example?

my sample was wrong though. replacing the label that says 'trigger...' with 'fed_akiraY' should work. but it seems like we have not used the derelict trigger for some time, as the ship doesn't seem to have any hull hitpoints when created :P

I finaly managed to creat a derelict prometheus.... or so i thought... when i started the map  on instant action  the little SOB killed my constuction ship when i went to capture it  :blink:

yea, i guess another side effect of the rare usage we made of the trigger :P

Until then, i reccomend that everyone create derelicts the "old" way: placing a ship, removing the crew, and setting the EnemyOfAllUnlike property to 1 (to make sure that you capture it when you beam crew onto it. I havent completely tested this, but i've made a map that way and it didnt crash for me yet (although i havent actually tried the map in IA or anything)
Edit: my a1 Junkyard redux map needs derelicts and they are broken  :crybaby: at least they will be fixed soon...
