Step 1: Move your viewscreen to the bottom left corner of the map.
Step 2: Zoom in (mouse wheel) until the white box on the minimap is as small as possible.
Step 3: Hit alt+P (or control+P, I forget which
) so that it takes a screenshot without removing the interface.
Step 4: SAVE THE MAP BEFORE YOU CLOSE ARMADA!!!
Step 5: Find the picture in your screenshot folder.
Step 6: Open that picture with a image editing program. Almost all computers have at least 1.
Step 7: Crop the photo so that you keep only the minimap from that picture.
Step 8: Resize the image so that it is 160 units by 160 units (this is what it has to be for Flops).
Step 9: Save the picture as a .bmp file-type. This is the file-type needed for Armada to use it
.
Feel free to bring any other questions!

.
Figure I'd go ahead and get my hands dirty

Hmmm.... Did you:
1. Make sure that the Minimap.bmp is the same EXACT name as the map itself?
2. Make sure it is a .bmp?
Also ...
Sometimes there are things on maps that you can do that will cause it to crash. Things like making names too long on the custom name line on a unit. That will cause a crash that you actually can't fix because trying to open the map itself to fix it causes a crash

You could check out the ones shown on Astrometrics featuring popular maps by myself and other map makers.
Coincidentally, it'd be a shame to lose your hard work over a crash. If you can still open it in the Map Editor, then grab it from the Recycle Bin and have a play around with it
. It's probably just one or two components which are causing the issue; solved with a swift deletion. If you're still at a loss, then either myself or one of the other experienced map makers could probably have a look into it, if you upload it for testing.
