Maybe I just over looked something but is there a way to download new maps made by other players? I am still new at making maps and not very good at it yet...

1] Download from site
2] extract contents to BZN folder
3] Play.

also if u join a game where the map is one you dont have, u can download it ingame. u can even set fleetops to download it automatically whenever you join a game with a map you dont have.

once the map is downloaded you may have to restart fleetops to get the minimap to appear.

If you are running Windows7 or Vista with UAC on you'll want to run FO as admin in order to download the maps properly :)

try install the free program 7zip.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzi ... e/download

it can handle the rar files which most maps are stored in.

Pretty much everything you need to know has been mentioned as above :). Astro features a steadily growing selection of maps by the community, including my own offerings. Check them out! (link in my signature)

Glad you asked that! I should update the headers because they are all 3.1.5 ready :).
Thanks to the way Devs fiddled with the maps, anything as old as 3.1.0 is usable with the latest version.

All things are ready for 3.1.5 except those that contain the "Small Blocking Trigger" doodad.

Of my maps the ones no longer usable in 3.1.5 (but will be fixed in 3.1.6) are "Star Traffic V1.2" and "Duel II V1.2 (not released but out there still :D)".

Phoenix which of your maps contain the small triggers?

Solar Storm is the only one with small block triggers :). However, Solar Storm is now part of FO, as of 3.1.3 I think, so it shouldn't be a problem, unless that stock version is borked! I just don't know because I still don't have my pc to play test with :(

Coincidentally, Tok'ra highlighted a potentially misleading part of the way I used to label titles, in so much, I'd put "3.1.2 ready" for example, which might cause people to think that it is not ready with later versions, when it is.

To save me the bother of updating each and every reference when a new patch is released, I've labelled any file which is compatible with the latest version, as being "[31X PLUS]".

In other words: three point one point *latest version of FO number* followed by a PLUS to say it'll be good for the next version barring any major major changes. that way, all I need to do is put the latest version at the top of my maps page and then you know it covers any map which has the 31X mark :)
