hey everyone i could really do with some help on this and any would be appreciated, my problem is when i try and add a derelict ship to my map it wont show up when i start the actual game on said map, it vanishes. i have done several things to try and get this to work, i added a dominion station to the map, set its crew to 0 and set its team to 8 (only 3 players, oh and whats percieved team?) then i set start location on 8 to type: empty. nothing happens.

other time i tried putting down one of those derelict trigger things and i got nothing either, only time the derelicts have shown up is when i set team and percieved team to 0 but that ment i couldnt take them over.

I think the team needs to not be empty, but AI controled so you can take it over.  If it is empty, I think it will disappear. I"m not sure though but it seems like the logical answer.

And Welcome to the Forums!  I'm sure we all hope to see new maps by you some time soon B)

Aye, the Derelict trigger happens not to work at the moment - I believe Zaxxon is correct about the rest :)

thank you both :) ok so if i set them as AI medium in start location, that should sort the problem? also should i put another start location down for the ai or leave that out

Hm, all that should be necessary is "... put the unit on the map, and set its player number higher than the maximum numbers of players on the map by one. To create a derelict, create a unit in a similar way, but set its crew complement to zero. Perceived Team is automatically set as the player number you selected. Do not change this."  :sweatdrop:

What he means is that he thinks you don't need to add a start location. :P

I agree :D

My pleasure :D

Sometimes your convoluted quoting of your own guide needs some syntax/context translation. :D

Speaking of which, you may want to add this incident to the guide to prevent any future users from having the same kinds of problems.  Say something about not needing derelect ships to have their own AI starting location, or something like that. :whistling:

New maps? I'm intrigued! :woot:

Mr Lore, to reinforce Dom's recommendation, do make a Community Maps page on Astrometrics :D. It's open for all map makers so all you need to do is create your page and set it up as you like. If you require file hosting, send me a PM and I'll get them up there.

Yeah, I think we all answer the question at hand in our head perfectly, but what we actually post is something entirely different.
