Question: Which lighting is best in maps?

Which type of lighting would you lot say is better for a map:

  • Having the conventional light that wee all see on a regular basis.
  • Having colored lighting. Such as red, green, ect.

I'd say it really depends on what style you are going for a map... so honestly, I like both. Colored lighting is good for "themed" maps in my opinion (helish etc) and conventional is just all around acceptable... but occasionally boring :)

I think that coloured maps are OK when they aren't too coloured (more than one light source or light hue of colour).

Sure... depends on setting. If you are near a sun. An orange glow is ubiquitous. I prefer the cool blue of like an ice field type map.

Hehe... is everyone not aware that it is a colored light except you have to edit the properties to change the light settings?

Default (white): 00ffffff

Bright Red: 000000ff
Bright Green: 0000ff00
Bright Blue: 00ff0000

Dim Gray: 00666666
Dark Red: 00000066
Dark Green: 00006600
Dark Blue: 00660000

Black: 00000000
Blackish Red: 00000011
Blackish Green: 00001100
Blackish Blue: 00110000
