"Batch" Object Placement

For lack of a better title... I was wondering, as I couldn't really tell either way, is there a "batch" object placement, or rather, a way to place an object (say... an asteroid field) so that it could do so much at once? For example, if you wanted to place a horizontal placement of them from left to right all the way across the map?

The stock A2 asteroids could do that using paths.
