Treasure Chest (2 Players)
After 2 years I'm trying to find my way back into map editing and here we go with Treasure Chest a map for 2 Players.
Features:
There's one remote set of moons in the upper left corner for those who like to play it safe - or have already missed their chance to get their hands on the Treasure Chest in the centre of the map.
Surrounded by Mutara nebulae the Treasure Chest is located around a Class M planet offering lots of resources. And by lots I mean lots.
Once you're there you don't want to lose this place.
But you'll find out for yourself if you decide to give the map a try
Good Hunting!

Thank you!

That's what I wasn't sure about. I first wanted to set blue nebulae

I'll change that so that there will be another version for matches against Borg

if you do add a blue/purple nebula, you could overlap it with a blocking asteroid so only a small part of it can be used. That way you won't find people hiding too many cubes.

I likes it the way it is. Plus, I rarely see what is so bad about these nebulas being a borg 'advantage'. I find no advantage when I play as borg.

Both those nebula knock out shields, effectively taking out one line of defence for all races except the Borg because they don't use shields.
If there is too much Purple and Blue then the Borg effectively have safe zones where they can annihilate anything and everything with much greater ease because they don't need to blast through enemy shields, wheras the enemy still have to blast through the same amount of Borg armour. They can cut off whole sections of the map, if those nebulae aren't planned effectively
Do you still see no advantage?

Thanks for all of your feedback so far!
As announced there will be a second version of Treasure Chest allowing a fair match against Borg. Today I already changed the nebulae but I'm undecided concerning blocking elements because I think of an "open field" as one of the fun parts of the map. So probably they won't be in.
But one thing I keep thinking about are the nebulae. All of them give non-Borg a hard time which made me think about replacing the Mutara/Fluid Nebulae with Tetrion or Nucleon Nebulae. Both do damage to ships passing through them which would take out the hiding but both wouldn't leave anyone with a major advantage.
The catch about Tetrion/Nucleon is that you're pretty dead when you arrive inside the "Treasure Chest" while the Borg would be at least more alive anyway....
Uhm, maybe you just don't play this map with Borg?
Dunno. I'd like to hear your suggestions
There's another map coming up (maybe in August), probably for 6 players which will work in a similar way but it won't have nebulae so it should be fine for everyone.

Treasure Chest b (2 Players)
b is for Borg
Thanks to your feedback I have created a second version of Treasure Chest without Mutara Nebulae since they give Borg-players some unfair advantage. Treasure Chest b is the same as Treasure Chest but instead of Mutara Nebulae it features Chrystalid and Fluid Nebulae and a few blocking elements around the centre of the map.
Enjoy!

Fluid nebulae just disable shields - Mutara disable sensors and shields

I know

As requested I tried to do something about the Mutara-problem and by replacing the Mutaras with Fluids and Chrystalids and adding some blocking triggers I hoped to offer a solution for those of us who like to have Borg on the field but do not want to be eaten in a nebula. Alas, there will be no real solution to that problem unless the devs come up with one

i am of the opinion that mutara is more helpful to borg due to the sensor diabling effect. ships cant shoot into the nebula from the outside. i think that if u have 1 ship in a fluid then ships outside can fire in.
but if u have a borg ship in a mutara, any ship that wants to attack it will have to go in and lose its shields.

Mutara has always been far better than a Fluid, as the Borg ship cannot attack ships that are outside the nebula while it is inside, as well as it is difficult to chase non-Borg ships in the Mutara
. Ships can't shoot into the Fluid or Mutara nebulae incidentally
