A Map for 3.1.1
I made this large 8-player map ( 40000 X 40000 ) depicting the Badlands.
It is suitable for battles 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 v 2 v 2.
You get a relatively save haven at your starting location with 3 Dilithum and 2 Tritanium moons. There you are a bit protected by asteroid belts.
The building space is sufficient but a bit limited, so excessive turtleing is not advisable.
Place your buildings wisely.
You will find several additional places with pairs of moons which also give a nice place to build an outpost. For Borg-Protection you can build lots of turrets there.
The map was made symmetrical so resources are spread evenly.
There is no direct way into the base of your opponents. And on your way you will constantly run into asteroid belts , Nucleon and Tetryon Nebula which will damage your ships.
There are also a lot of places for ambushes.
So navigate wisely.
The map is optimised for smaller fleets. Large fleets will loose a ship now and then in a nebula.
Well it is not called the Badlands without a reason. On this map you are navigating a hostile part of outer space.
Have fun and tell me how it works for you.

I don't see much space.... and I see moons mounted at the edge, that may cause pathing problems.

Hi, 1337_64M3R
I have tested the map in game using various races (Feds, Klingon, Romulan). It works, I have found no pathing problems so far.
The moons close to the edge is an impression created by the way the editor shows the elements of huge map in a tiny window. There is no problem with resource gathering.
Remember the map is 40000 x 40000.
The editor tends to show several elements extremely large.
For example: the asteroid belts: they are shown larger and closer to each other than they are on the real map in game.
In game there is no problem steering a fleet of 16 major ships through those passages, depending on the formation.
For a borg fleet the passages are bit cramped use the line astern formation if you play them . More than 3 cubes in a line abreast formation is not recommended.
By the way: the Map has 8 smaller passages intended to be this way so you can escape a larger AI controlled fleet more easily
Towards the center there is enough space even for lager fleet battles.

Hopefully you are indeed correct about pathing issues - I'll test this weekend

One problem.... I was playing in the bottom left corner, I sent my fleets to the AI in the top left... but they went the loooong way by going to the right side of the map first. Can you try to fix this?

Hi 1337_64M3R,
thanks for the notice. Found the bug and made an updated version.
Redownload the new version here. It will overwrite old files.
