EDIT: Dec. 8
I had to re-upload all but the minimap because one of the starting positions was oddly out of place. Just a tiny bit of tinkering and it was fixed.
Heh, so Boggz had a burst of creativity this weekend and felt like making some maps. Took the lessons from the tests of Malta II and made a bigger map.
[tt]Map: Rain
Size: 20k x 20k
Arrangement: 2 sides of 3 Players. Top / Bottom
Resources: Full expansion for each player. More Moons in "No Man's Land".
Nebulae: Few. Some Reds top and bottom to divert pathing and increase some travel times. Green's here and there. A pair of Mutara's one the extreme East /West edges with little space.
Race Balance: All races should be balanced. Starts have ample space, moons have plenty of building area.[/tt]
So going with Malta II's tendency to give a player multiple avenues of attack towards an opponent's base and exp while allowing more interesting escape and flanking opportunities. Please note: the corridors and passages in this mini-map may seem a bit skinny, but in practice there are larger than they seem and accommodate larger fleets nicely. The actual blocking forces do not always stretch over the edge of an asteroid cluster to allow more movement while still looking pretty
.
Anyway I suggest this map as a 3 v 3 top-down or, if you feel really patient, a 2 v 2 top-down as well with more abundant resources.
Enjoy! Please don't hesitate to throw out some constructive criticism. As we saw with Malta II I apparently take it quite well
EDIT: Didn't upload anything.

Nice map, but the bottom-left start point shows up in the middle of the map during setup. Still starts where it should ingame, though.

Looks very nice - very interesting layout actually.
In addition to what Tyler said, if you open up the map editor, in the left hand side of the middle of the map there is a strange diagonal yellow "line" whose purposes I don't understand
. Doesn't seem to effect anything... just is strange.

Heh yeah that was my attempt to fiddle around with some pre-layed "paths" that I could set a couple of neutral NPC's loose upon. Didn't work and I never removed the Line. Shouldn't have any effect on gameplay

Hmm ... I'll look at the starting positions again. I bet the spot that is in the wrong place somehow got switched with the original directional light in the center.
