Here's another attempt at some unusual ideas. This map has no less than 8 wormhole pairs, and numerous bottlenecks. The wormholes connect to different areas in a haphazard manner, and the starting points are near defensible positions, with plenty of resources, if you can keep them defended!
The main idea behind the map (born out by a few tests against the game AI) is to have numerous small skirmishes rather than a few large fleet actions. If you can capture bases... you're half way to setting up new staging areas as you find you're way through the map's interconnects.
