Lately ive been inpsired to map, so I took a crack at making a map that had characteristics of the Bassen rift seen in nemesis. Feedback welcome.

Interesting version and no Scimitar. Looks worth trying.

By downloading it and modifying it to FO-style.

the borg would have a feel day on this map. hope to see more maps.

by feel day do you mean field day?
also why do u think the borg would be stronger on this map, on the contrary they would be weaker.
these are the green shield recharging nebulae, as the borg have no shields they can't take advantage of this boost. while non-borg races can go hide in the nebulae and shoot out at the borg, even if the borg enter the nebula to give chase it won't give them any boosts.
the borg like the blue nebulae which drop shields but don't cause any hull damage. the map "swings and roundabouts" is an example of where resource moons are placed in the blue nebulae and miners lose their shields and the borg are really strong.

i hate it when someone picks apart a word for a point. besides that this is what i meant by trying to setup camp, making mistakes which i have done already to find out what is tollerated.
hmm it seems to remember stock a2 nebula that gave health benefits, i am really not with it. my apologies. brainfade

anyway, like i said, hope to see more maps.

Quite right, Myles
. The Greens nebs are an Opti-Borg's worst nightmare. Only thing you can really do is stockpile Auto-assim Assimilators backed by support dodes and hope you can strip the crew off everything and take it for yourself.
Also, with so many nebulae, have you tested the pathing of the ships to make sure that they go where you tell them to go?
NINJA'D by Canny: I don't think he was picking it apart, I think he just wanted to clarify the fact that green nebs work AGAINST Borg instead of FOR the Borg

i didnt mean to pick apart what u said or to offend you, i only commented because the word you said was completely opposite from what you meant. also in the past several people (not on the forums) have mistaken having a field day for being a negative thing, while in fact having a field day is a good thing

The enemy might not always agree, though.

of course i meant good from one's own point of view, as is the norm in competitive gameplay, always try win.

@ Boggz - I did do some minor testing, nothing real in depth though. I thought id left good margins for pathing but If the AI is super sensitive it could be an issue. Have you encountered pathing issues. Ill play a little more in depth to see how it handles.
Got another map Im working on and its got some pathing issues - hope Ill have it resolved and up for DL soon.

basically i think the ai will just go around the nebulae even though they are not harmful. which will make the ai slower. if you set waypoints they will follow them through the nebulae, as long as the waypoints are in the nebulae.
