This is my first attempt at a competitive 4-player map.  It is also "Observer Friendly" with Maruaders to take a spin in.   Hopefully it'll get some playtime......

The key points I tried to build into the map:

"Non-cloaking" scout friendly locations (hiding spots).
"shortcuts" at risk of damaging your own ship.
3rd separated moon pair to force action in center of map.
Isolated Green Nebulas, difficult for large fleets to "park" in.

Ugh, gotta update this based on some Multiplayer problems.

I'm still having problems with blocking triggers, but I believe this is at least "playable" now.  I'm not sure I understand completely how to set these properly, so there are many places where you would think a starship cannot go, and they can.

Fixed Problems:
-  In the original version, you could not raid your opponents Main mining without coming under fire of their starbase.
-  Tetyroid Nebula extending into areas it should not.
-Center of map was "skewed" in favor of the top-right team.

So observers can control marauders?

yes, beware of putting too many marauders on a map though, as they can be annoying and tip the balance of power.

disabling their engines can help prevent this. but i think there is a bug that if u target the marauder special on a ship  out of range, the marauder will move into range anyway.

LOL... no way!  Observers can command Marauders?  Awesome.  Can they steal uncrewed ships then?  That could be quite funny, especially if players could "bid" to get the ship.

Observer: "Ladies, Gentlemen, and others.  What I have on offer here is a Federation Descent Class vessel straight from the utopia planetia shipyards.  Barely seen any service, lost its crew in an unfortunate encounter with some Klingons and now available to YOU for the right price.  Don't worry about the bloodstained bridge, i have it on good authority that the leather chairs used by starfleet are fully washable"
Bidders: "oooohhhh!"
Observer: "Now, can we start the bidding at, say, 300 tritanium and 200 dilithium?
Fed Player: "That's my bloody ship you thieving Ferhengi swine!"
Observer: "Now now, Rule 37 of the Rules of acquisition roughly translates into human speak as >, please be quiet unless you wish to make a bid"
:D

I'd love to see an observer try that with a Klingon ship...

Just tried playing as an observer on a LAN game with some AI players.  I could select the Marauders but couldn't move them.  :crybaby:

maybe they cant move by default, i'm not sure. i remember in a replay that dominus managed to get a marauder to move around and fire its special.

Would it be too much to ask if we could have some red in there? Just put them in the more open areas just so that we do not have large spaces that are voids. I kinda like having each spot in purpose. Or putting some dust fields could suffice.

LOL you can't move them, cept by telling them to fire their special weapon.  then you can make then hold the enemy in a tractor beam and their engines won't repair.

thats not true, the engines come back online regardless of whether u use the tractor beam on them or not. the marauder special doesnt destroy engines, it only disables them. and when engines return online the tractor beam will auto disable. only combat tractor/holding beam can hold a ship against its will.

heh, well thats not what It did for me, but I wasn't holding an ordinary ship, so it prally destroyed the engines in the firstplace. :sweatdrop:

Could you be a bit more specific about the "Voids"?  I left the map mostly open on purpose, because I did not know how much room each race requires for their basic stations (particulary the Borg).

Let me see what I can do about the "Red".
