Hiya there,
Was hoping to find some people willing to write a replay making page for the guide which would include advice for the actual replay and (very importantly) how to set up the recording equipment and use it effectively. These two threads have previously discussed such information :)

Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Making FO Videos for Free with Camstudio
Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - FRAPs and Windows Movie Maker and YouTube

Sure, but I'm fairly positive this will need to be a collaborative effort, as I believe each replayer (and also people who do not put up replays) have a unique opinion on what they'd like to see and how they'd go about it :)

all replay makers seem to have their own way of recording, mal uses camstudio, while i cant use that, i have to use fraps. he uses divx while i use wmv etc.

a guide would need to explain that trial and error is a good thing lol.

Dom edit: split from update page after announcement of Myles' Replay Page

wow that was quick, i didnt intend for you to keep the table row about "that program mal uses" i figured once mal gives his experience and example it could be added properly.

what do u use mal? is it virtual dub with the divx trial codec?

i think yandonman said in his replay making thread that he uses windows movie maker with WMV.

clintsat i think uses WLMM.

has anyone had any experiences with playclaw/wegame or xfire?

i have the playclaw trial and will test offline when i get a chance.

I use WLMM.  It is actually a bit faster than the other video processing software I have, though it doesn't make files as easy to use on my Nexus One phone.

thats cause its not windows phone lol :D micro$oft want u to buy windows phone. wlmm has a windows phone dedicated option lol.

why do u wanna watch replays on a phone anyway? surely it would be too small to see the stuff u wanna see, like chat messages and res counts. i find that on youtubes 480 option that those are blurry.

what recorder do u use? fraps/camstudio/something else?

I use Fraps.  I shrink dvds to watch on my phone, not replays.
