What Ships Are In The Final Release?

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

I'm pretty new to this mod, and it's great. V3 whatshamacallit is the first version of the mod I've played, but it doesn't include the Borg and a couple new races.

I was disappointed with how over-powered the Borg were in A2 (worse than in A1). Also, I want to know if the Tactical/Fusion/Tact Fusion cubes are in the mod? I'm not too fond of them, and wouldn't be displeased if I found them gone ;)

I was curious what class ships will be in the final release for the unseen races, and if any new ones will be added for the races we've seen so far, or any removed.

The only thing I really find completely missing from the game are the Cardassians. An avatar of Dukat or Tain would be rather fitting :D . Of course, the project is so far along I guess it's pointless to suggest...why couldn't I find this mod sooner :o ?

it sounds like you just want to see the borg newtered....

borg ships are supposed to be very powerful... but of course expensive

There are 2 ways to reason why the fusions should be scaled down/removed:

1: balance issues. It's one giant hulk of destruction that is very, very hard to stop. Starbases? They can't do anything to slow it down for long.

2: Really, a regular cube should have about half to three-quarters of a fusion's power, and in A1, it didn't, most definitely for the balance issues. The only reason the Federation ever defeated a cube was because Q saved them once, and Picard used his insider-knowledge to knock it down to size (with a hundred ships helping, including at least one Defiant and some Akiras). At least in the TNG/movie stuff (haven't seen all of Voyager, I need to).

Now if the design team were to make the cube one of the special weapons, and make it cost 11 special points, that'd be good. The Borg only sent one Cube at a time, they knew that it was normally more than enough to wipe out half a quadrant under most circumstances. So very expensive would work...

hmm maybe but that would, in my opinion, make the borgs motto "resistence is futile" worthless as they (or human opponents) would only be able to afford 1 or 2 cubes in game and once they're gone they're prob gonna get beaten straight away. if you played the beta2 version of FO you may have found the borg a bit different and the cube wasnt THAT powerful which is a good thing cos i want a fcuking fleet o cubes to scare my opponents

I'd rather see the borg played out with a more realistic strategy, that a single ship consumes others, and then it builds form there, if only there were a way to do a good balanced game like that in fleetops :(

I love that idea, I love the Borg so much because they are in a sense stand for all that is "evil" in the galaxy of technology and thus they should be treated as rulers of technology and the evil it can cause, Borg ships are powerful, do you know why they are so powerful? Its because the Borg are very technological and they are able to remake the drones that are fallen in battle except the ones that die from its ship being blown up, so if they sent lets say 10 ships each having a complement of 1000 drones into battle and 3 get destroyed; they lose 3000 drones but if they sent one large ship with a complement of 10000 drones they will still win and not lose any because they assimilated technology from species 149 which allows them to revive dead drones that were dead for up to 73 hours except if they were blown up into billions of little pieces if their ship gets destroyed. Another characteristic of the Borg we see through all the episodes of all series' is the Borg are like a Virus, they send in a ship to first see if the race they are looking at is "qualified" for assimilation, if so, the Borg will really come in force with many cubes if not hundreds. The main reason why the Borg only sent 1 cube both times was because the first time the Borg wanted to see if humanity was worthy enough for assimilation and the second time was because the Borg at that time was at war with species 8472. The Borg don't like losing ships because drones are not hard to come by but they need to be assimilated so you have to conquer another race just to get drones to continue your wars and such which is why we see the Borg slice up entire planets and assimilate all the people on the planet. The Borg don't have stations in a sense, true they have hubs for transwarp travel and unimatrix 1 but those are about it, what you see throughout their space are cubes, hundreds and hundreds of cubes. Cubes are designed to take on entire fleets and still expect victory, thats their primary function, to destory or assimilate all that are in the way. I love the avatars for the Borg, they show the difference of the Borg from different shows :D :D . I would go further into detail and more insight on the Borg and why they do what they do but I have written to much already. Hope this sheds a little light on the topic. B) B)
