Warp In The V3?

Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Why only fed ships?
I thought all vessles should have it :P

aye, as it leaves borg, rommies etc at a serious disadvantage.

yep, at least the same number & class of ships from each race should get it or not at all :) .

I suggest all races are able to use warp. Well.. whatever the staff does to the Borg.. that transwarp-thing is an argument. But as the Borg already have a Transwarp-Hub I think you still could play them though the other races have warp-engines again. Perhaps the costs for the Hub could be reduced or all Borg vessels get Transwarp. By the way I always thought they should have it...
But Warp belongs to StarTrek and if it is realized in the suggested way FO would again leave A2 far behind! B)

And if there will be Warp I'd like to see the special-energy-idea done! That sounds good and would not affect gameplay and strategy in a negative way.
So: warp for every single ship in FO but as a special kind of special-weapon.
I'd like that! :D

Impulse also belongs to Star Trek Seer ;)

Let the Staff think and decide about it... they know whats the best for their project.
If the vessels really would fly warp on that maps included in A2 or in FleetOps...thats not realistic ..you know what i mean? The vessels would in fact land somewhere outside the map. So Impulse is a more realistic matter for maps of that size.
But nm... Warp would be something that no other RTS-Game has...is characteristic for a Star Trek Game.... ahhhh... that makes no sense...let them finish V3 FIRST!!!!! I´ll go crazy if they need another year yet! then good bye FleetOps...all will play STO and noone is interested in FO anymore... :(

I think warping in system would be good. Perhaps a short momentum boost, something similar to the Pciard Manouver in terms of relative distance?

This is about the tenth time this has been discussed on these forums alone. I think they've made their minds up.

okwell how about the ultimate solution in the warp problem do what they did in the original armada 2 to solve it

if the maps are large for example 8 player map then add gravity ( purple circles on the mini map)

put them back into larg portions like leave a small part open like 1/4 of the map where you can make a small jump to get to the other part of the sector ?

don't mean to sound negative but where is this gravity going to come from?
no planets remember, gravity wells will give the feds an unfair advantage, with the sovie's engine disruptor. a special for certain classes (or a button in setup) is still the best way i can think of.

I just don't think warp should be back at all. No warp is a part of FO now, the whole game is balenced around there being no warp and I like it. If you want a mod with warp I would suggest another one.

On a side note I only decided on this after playing the mod, when i first heard about it I didn't download it because I thought "No warp, that sucks" but after a while and reading a review I finally played it and its only been off my computer for short amounts of time since :D

Larger ships should at least have warp is all I'm saying, what about that "tactical" warp or whatever it was called in bridge commander, where the ship sped up really quickly to get the the starbase and what not...I havn't played BC in ages, lost the CD and havn't gotten around to buying it again :(

If it used special energy like I said you'd have to think about where your warping to before you warp, cause you can and would be owned without your special weapons.

And captain ryan, Newton's law of Universal Gravitation states everything in the universe has gravity, not just planets, you have gravity however it is overpowered by the earth you stand on. If you were in a place devoid of planets and or large planet-like asteriods things would be attracted to you, space dust tiny asteriods ect...The galaxy class, cube and Romulan warbird are so massive that the surrounding space dust and asteriods would be attracted to them, as well as smaller ships, however this would be as if the universe was devoid of gravity. The mass of an object in space is directly linked to it's "gravity" forcenet=mass x acceleration. This force of gravitational attraction is directly dependant on the masses of both objects and inversely proportional to the square of the distance which seperates their centers. with any luck you understand that and are now realizing that I am too big a nerd to be here ;)

Also, just to be clear, The galaxy has gravity in itself (galactic core), as well as stars, so there would be no place in our galaxy for the star trekkers to go and prove that the romulan shuttle would fly toward the warbird with it's engines off ;)

I see what your saying being im halfway through an A-level in physics. maybe a tactical warp manover thing, to outflank ships. although ships turn so fast in st:a2 that there wouldnt be much point.

True, and good for you! It's great to meet someone who shares my intrest in physics! ^_^

the borg do have warp drive. remember in the episode best of both worlds, when the enterprise was trying to keepup with the borg cube at warp 9.98 i think.

and for the warp flanking, one thing that always ticked me off about A2, was that when a ship attacked you or when you fired on a ship, the torpedoes would flyout of any side of the hull, not just the front or back. the only ship that should beable to do that is the achillies class heavy cruisers.

The borg call it Transwarp...I assumed it was a diffrent system  but the "warp count" system is just to used to measure speeds at FTL travel, so It's possible that the cube is able to go so fast because of it's transwarp.

I didn't like that either, always just brought me out of the whole startrek experience. and getting hit while your in warp, so you have a green sheild elipse that is smaller then your ship is because of warp...(look at the stock armada's sov in warp, have it get attacked, you'll see what I mean.)
