Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

Even if they could disable a Cube, that would just make them a high priority for assimilation, and I don't think they could disable an entire fleet of Cubes.
That's assuming the Borg are even effected much or at all, they're 'thousands of centuries' old, which is probably long enough for them to have assimilated or encountered another race with similar tech.
voyager episode "dragons teeth" 900 years ago the borg had only taken a handfull of systems (10-20 iirc) its teh voth that are thousands of centuries old afterall they came b4 the asteroid that hit earth and thats 65million years ago

Yea you have to remember that when humans were just mice the Voth had already made it to another quadrant

I'm far more inclined to believe Guinans version of the Borg's age than any Voyager idiots. Unlike the Vaadwaur, she actually has some brains (and a good series) backing her.
Actaully, I'm not sure where the age comes from, but the Borg age as 'thousands of centuries' is canon. Either Guinan or the Queen.
I never claimed the the Voth weren't old, but going by an inconsitency from a series that already butchered everything the Borg are isn't a good standpoint. Also, those were only the systems they knew about; the Quadrent is vast and not much of it would have been explored, even with the corriddors.
Voyager would probably have claimed the Q were only as old as Humans if it went any further!

well lets make an observation voyager and first contact ....fed ships can hold there ground at least for a bit against the borg ....but voyager was disabled in a mater of moments then transported inside of there ship .....the borg have to pull ships inside via tractor.....and you cant argue a fleet of borg ships could destroy the voth .....for sure they could .....you could also say the borg could send 50 cubes and kill the fed kling and rom and cardassian ....and the borg do have much more then 50 cubes. and sure im sure they could destroy some cubes but the more they fight with the bord the more the borg will adapt to there weapons.

Let's make another observation; very few 'big names' in Trek ever consider dampening fields, even though their minor neighbours use them often. Voth using them shows the idea exists, with my main post being about the liklyhood of the Borg meeting another race with tech similar to it.
In fact, it's actually canon that the Borg have encountered and even assimilated members of a race with that type of tech; the Voth themselves.
I never mentioned destroying any ships, I said disabling a fleet. Putting a dampening field around Voyager is far easier than generating a similar field around a fleet that is likely to take as much space as a small planet.

personally i was a bit dissapointed about the voth tech:
-one guy of the voyager crew was able to hide
-they talked about a realy big distance to the earth ... which lets me think: what engines do they use?
they should have transwarp, considering there age.
Edit: ok they had it ... but why talking then about big distances?
-bringing a dampening field over a ship is something even the breen and some other races did already in the tv-show, just the *we beam a complete starship into our ship* was impressive. But gotta say here: the big E did beam a litle fighter into the own shuttlebay at ST: Nemesis
but the ship could be interresting as map object:
stealing ships up to a certain strength when they get to close, could be funny

They did have Transwarp, it was brought up in the episode. Someone probably hid because they were arrogant enough to get careless. They were a pretty arrogant group, compared to many less-advanced races.
A few Voth who's entire knowledge and experience is in the collective, so they either learned about their tech from them or from the ship they came in.
