The good ol' days
Which race do you like most? What do you like - what you don't like? Discuss it here.

There is plenty of videos to watch online but none of them go before 8th May 2009. Are there any of the videos of the "old days" when fleetops was completely new? (even before version 1.5).
I would really like to see how things used to be! ^^

Nope, there are a few 'recordings' on xfire of 3PR, but they are just compilations, not real gameplay. You can always download and install the very oldest Fleet Ops if you want

No, I was only interested how they used to play... had a moment of nostalgia...
You have to admit though, FO is here for quite a while now! No matter how long do i pause between playing it there is allways some unknown force dragging me back to it!

Yeah, Eufnoc, you should join us! I have no idea who you are, but we all want to see you again! Our numbers have been growing steadily and the game is WAY more balanced than it used to be.
Unfortunately, I tried to install Beta 2 and play it again but it didn't work on my Windows 7 machine. Back in those days the Dominion weren't a faction, every map was huge, every race had good turrets, and a handful of ships dominated everything else. And we loved it that way
The game used to have the kind of quirky, balance-annihilating mechanics that you expect from a young mod and are so much fun to abuse. Noxter turrets could move, creating a creeping wall of long-range death that nothing could defeat. Romulans had a ship that could phase through blocking triggers, moving anywhere on the map to strike where the enemy was weak.
The initial version of generix supports were uncapped, so you could build a super-fleet of 30 ships that cannot be killed until every single one of them ran out of energy for shield recharge. Also the Intelligence Center was a one-hit kill, I remember watching a replay that came down to 3-4 romulan ships vs 2 cubes with no bases, but the Romulan got an IC and sniped both cubes with one-shot sabotage agents.
There were other crazy things...breen cruisers that moved much faster and could fire 360 degrees and could kite ANYTHING to death without taking a scratch, the Fusion cube with a torpedo that simply removed all shields from the ships it hit. (which was surprisingly weak against a large number of enemies since only the beam weapon could cause hull damage)
I don't even remember them all. Come on, people, what are some of the other weird things we used to have?

I have seen a 20 or 25 warp-in cap on one of the older vids. That + the fact that you could teoretically get 3 galaxies = OMFG WARP-IN OF WIN
