Hi,

Sorry I know this isn't related to Armada 2 Fleet Ops. I was wondering whether, in production of the Fleet Ops for STA one, you managed to get STA one running under XP. Its a real shame because Star Trek Armada has no compatibility mod and none of the mods that were produced for it support XP. I dying to play this classic again and it seems this game is dead and buried.  :(

Get a copy of Armada II. It's basically Armada but better. And you can always mod out the stuff you don't like (planets, colony ships, crew resource, 8472, etc.)

I've got Armada 2 and Fleets Ops. Waiting for the next patch to fix the 'out of memory' error though. Cant play the mod til then.  I miss the campaigns of ST Armada especially the Omega molecule campaign. I cant believe there's no compatibility for Armada one!  >:(

Try modding out build costs and time. I learned the hard way that the game crashes after around 6000 Ventures.

But, if you want A1, then mod out everything added. Here's all the pros: Better graphics, Better voices, newer GUIs, etc.

By the way, try running A1 with XP service Pack 2 in compatibility mode. This is how I got my A1 Demo to work. :)

Yeah tried all the compatibility modes, to be honest they've never helped me with any game. Cant edit anything out until the next patch, suffering from the 'out of memory' error. Thanks for your thoughts.

The out of memory, Increase swap file size problem is due to a missing (") somewhere, so if you have modded anything in the game, look for the missing apostrophe  and yes it took me forever to find that out on my own.  also, you can be sure that A2 is better than A1, and I consider it a classic.

btw welcome to the forums

Thanks for the welcome. No I haven't modded anything in the game or the mod. I've got a clean install. Im worried now, is the 'out of memory' error being fixed in the next patch?

I saw the thread you started, so if Doca has figured it out, you can trust it will be fixed.  That is wierd tho, cus Ive never herd of that bug.  How old is your computer?  Mine is about 8 years old and it still works fine for FO.  Sure it is a little slow when loading, but Ive never had a virtual memory problem. Does it crash on start up, or on the launch of a game?

It crashes on startup. I've increased my page file size for both my drives but still getting the problem like in my original post. Thanks for the reassurance. Hope this is fixed. Cola is aware of the problem too. Cant wait to play this mod and start assimilating!  :borg:

thats strange...It you have a computer with low virtual memory then I don't know if they can fix it...but if Doca says he can, then he can

yes, 3.0.6 should fix that rare fo startup problem.
armada 1 didn't run very well on my xp system, i had sound stutters and a lot of graphic problems there. however, to my suprise, it runs very well under vista x64 now

HOW!?? I have wanted to do that forever!  I have Windows 7 x64 with 8gb ram and it tells me there is not enough memory. >.<

FO is, in a sernse, a heavily modded A1 with no similarity to A2 (with the A2 unique things removed), so playing that is like playing gods version of Armada 1.
