Any Idea on what to use the Feds Phaser Platform for cause i never use it cause it it too weak to protect my base.... :unsure:

the only defense platform i use is the torp one.

early game I use them to defend resources, helps me spam akiras.

they are a cheap defense item until you have enough resources to build torp platforms quickly.  i also use them to augment my base defensesg get enough of them together and they can do a decent amount of damage before anyone bothers to blow them up  :lol:

Well... torps are only available for one avatar... but pulses are expensive ... still I never use phasers (I think there's a problem there...)

Is it just me or does it seem strange that the pulse phaser has a longer range than a standard beam phaser? In the show, pulse phasers seemed to hit hard at short range, like on the defiant, whereas normal phasers seem to have a range advantage.

I'd like to see that applied to the turrets, so once you have enough resources you still have a reason to build normal turrets.

Seems like a good reason to me too (perhaps long with phaser; medium with pulse... or perhaps even artillery with phaser, and medium with pulse  ^-^)

#1 itd be very nice if you could upgrade, so you build phaser platfroms early on to protect, and then upgrade them so they can fed off the more powerful enemy ships

#2 if range had an effect on weapon effectivness(species specific), it would be very cool, then speed and manuvering would help more, cus then for instance, lets just pick a random ship that is totally random, sovy, might actually be able to do somthing (besides be underpowered and weak, and btw its stats need to be incresed, specialy in weapons, as do defiants, and the fed needs a rework, also descents suck, while they have good defense they need some punch, and more defense, so like 60 offense, 80-90 defense would be perfect) against a nevargh because of range and speed

The Sovereign is not too weak, please try to stay on topic and don't post your arguments about the Sovereign in every topic. As already stated we will have a look at the Federation line-up. We already have topics about the Sovereign to discuss its characteristics, please use them.

I will take a look at the Platforms, we could switch the weaponranges.

If you switched them I think you'd have to make the pulse phasers cheaper.  Your main concern with base defenses is really range, because if your turrets can't fire at the typical range your approaching ships can they are going to be dead in the water.

well, i think the range thing would help to solve the isue, but also making it able to be upgraded to pulse phaser, and topedo

also to optec, i wasnt talking about sovy, i was usuing the sovy and nevargh as exaples for supporting the effective range idea that was brought up
