First of all I want to express how completely awesome this mod is. I just recently found it and have been enjoying the hell out of it. Thank you to all the developers who've worked and continue to work on this.
This may be a case of ridiculous nitpicking, but I really miss the old Starfleet ships like the Miranda, Constellation, Soyuz, Excelsior, ect. It kind of makes sense that you wouldn't build new hulls of some of these, but I still miss the DS9 fleets with a whole bunch of those blue nacelles. The warp-in system helps that, but I wish it could be used more often, but more expensive (where you could use it for the bulk of your fleet, but you wouldn't have much cash left for a "homemade" fleet)(maybe you have to pay tribute to Starfleet to get them to send you your fleet?). Maybe have each warp-in fleet be randomly generated to consist of some arbitrary point value where a Galaxy was worth 10 Mirandas or so where the whole fleet would max out at the equivalent of 5 Galaxies. Maybe have this type of warp in as a separate ability that has to rally at a stationary "staging area" so you couldn't spam your entire fleet all over the map.
There could be an Admiral that you could pick that's all about military efficiency or something where this ability could be used.
Anyway, Please discuss or whatever. I don't know if this is something that anyone wants, but anything that lets you fly a bunch of Mirandas, Excelsior/Lakotas, Nebulas, and Galaxies around would really make my day.

Miranda Class and several other old and oldish ships will be added into the game as map units, so you can use them later through custom maps.

Yep you're not alone in missing a lot of the old designs. However, the Devs have made clear that this mod takes place after DS9 and most of those models have been phased out. Those that had already been phased out in DS9 were basically decimated in the Dominion War and won't be buildable in Flops.
The Fed Warpin ability, however, will grant you access you lots of older ship classes with oodles of fun abilities!
Keep them alive and you'll see some really neat veteran abilities and such.
They know how much we love the older designs (and they like them too
), so they'll eventually put them in as map objects with which we can screw around
. I know that map-makers like myself and others will find a way to get them into some maps once the coding allows it.

Even things as far back as the real first Constitution Class will be added and some 'oddly painted wrecks'. Makes me wonder about the NX Class fans, though.

Hi,
would be nice to have the option to select an Area to play (ENT/STO/TNG/DS9/VOY...).
(but then we need a couple of ships for every time period .... much work ..)

Wasnt there a Lexington class? I am not going to ask the Prometheus class queation agian but are there plans for the:
Achilles* (Dominion Wars)
Akula (Klingon Academy) Maybe to old school?
Obirth (TNG/Starship creator)
Agues (Armada 2) I cannot remember the exact name so forgive me!
Constellation (Birth of the Federaion)
Galexy X Refit (TNG/Bith of the Federation)
Achilles* (Dominion Wars)

Obirth (TNG/Starship creator) *Oberth* if looks are anything its older than the Miranda class and there is speculation that the Mirandas are actually the same age as the Constitution class and the Reliant was a refit anyway the Oberth seemed to bea pure science vessle or even a federation scout. maybe a supply ship anyway its small and near uselless hell a B'rel took the Grissom out with ONE shot. anybody also notice that to get from the saucer to the lower hull you had to beam there as the pylons were to thin and odd shaped for turbolifts...
Agues (Armada 2) I cannot remember the exact name so forgive me! *Aegis*
Constellation (Birth of the Federaion) i would not mind seeing them as a map object they look likea possible light carrier of some sort sense they have massive shuttle bays
Galexy X Refit (TNG/Bith of the Federation) Galaxy X you mean the Three nacelled monster from All good Things? If somebody scratch builds a model that actually makes the 3rd nacelle connection area look good and skip out on all the spikey greebles on the saucer it might be good

I remember a mod that was in development, that allowed you to once you captured a map ship, you could decommision it or such, and then you would be able to build that design. Would this perhaps be an idea? you get the ship examined or such, and you have the ability to build mk2 style varients or refits of the ships, since fleet ops is about fleets, and old designs were pulled out in the dom war and refitted for specific purposes. Would this be implementable?

Akula would be pretty easy to add in, since it's been added into other A2 mods (Klingon Academy 2 being the main one I know of).
Oberth is a TMP era ship
By Agues do you mean the sheild enhancer ship from A2 ?
Constellation wasnt BotF, it was TNG (it launched in late TMP era as I recall), Picards first command was of that type (and it first was seen in TNG)
Whats a Galexy X ? Or do you mean the Galaxy class X refit :p . That'd actualy be a pretty neat addon for the current Galaxy class, have a veteran Galaxy able to (for a large cost, limit one) upgrade to the X refit specs. Quantum torpedos, rapid fire phasers, 2x pulse phasers (those silly spikes by the bridge) and the spinaly mounted phaser, it'd be a neat battleship.
That or just replace the Phalanx with it, Phalanx is fugly.

I think what he meant was just take the ship back to base and fully 'assimilate' it.
It'd actualy be an intersting idea.
Have ships loose all rank, gain higher regen rates, borg weapons

I doubt there's any plans for the Galaxy-X; while it has its share of fans, there are probably a lot more idiots that consider it an abomination. Assuming you mean the tri-nacelle Galaxy, most usually refer to it as the Galaxy-X Class.
Phalanx is still a WIP, of course it wouldn't look as good as some other ships.
Aegian/Aegean is the shield-enhancer ship from stock, and it's planned as a map unit in a future patch.

Not assimilation, i meant for any race, but i was thinking generally of feds or the other races, finding an old ship, and basically gaining the ability to build more, but they would be refitted.

They already lose the rank; the symbol disapears when I assimilate ships.

You could use the constellation in birth of the Federation. It had the 4 nacelles. It was good for making a fast fleet at low cost.
Also I forgot the Kavort'cha* (now idea about the spelling on that one.) from the Dominion Wars game. It was pretty much the only good Klingon ship in it!
Now as far as the Galexy X there was 2 models. On TNG it had 3 and was pretty ugly. In birth of the Federation it had 4 and was pretty awsome.
