Official Fleetops Story?

While there have been scatterings of posts and occasional peeks at designs and info for the new races, there has been no "official" description of either the races or the soryline of FO. Perhaps someone from the FO (oops, its not OF ) team could enlighten me/us?

Optec is working on setting up a wiki i believe he said there would be a description there. Maybe it will get put up after they next patch... * crosses fingers*

aye, there were already some older posts about the basics of the races.

You should know the Noxter from the older beta. A space-living, organic race.

The Ciadan are a highly advanced race, specialized in developing artificial and cybernetic intelligence, with a very unique character and point of view.

The Iconians are an ancient and forgotten race, with a much deeper understanding of the universe then other species can even hope to get close to.

hey optec, just an idea man, but personally, dont tell us the story line until we get single player

then we can play it out, for instance you introduce all the races with maybye a cinematic of the first warp able ship, then you guys can add a vulcan camo

then you guys make a model of nx 01 and make a mission for it to get the kligon person back, and show some kligon ships

then introduce the rommies, with kirk in the enterprise, (some of these models can also be used for warp in for dual purpose) and show a few old rommy models,

then show the borg first contact and then battle of wolf 359, with all the old ships, such as constelation and then galaxy,

and then you can show the dominion cardasian war and such

itd be really cool to reveal the storyline this way, and from each races point of view

that way you can keep thinking the story till you can make some missions

Although I dont think he did with that last post it is an interesting idea to keep us in suspense until the single player comes out however there should be a little backstory to go along with it (maybe that would be ok, idk.).

I don't know about giving away too much too early, but I think I'd prefer to have single player missions where I don't do the whole, "Go through all of Star Trek in a few missions" thing that so many games have been doing lately. I'd kinda prefer an actual storyline that is completely original, and is all about the stuff that the devs have made. Obviously, other than the whole...you know...Star Trek Aspect, lol.

I would definitely prefer a completely original story. I like to be surprised!

I like original stories too, but theres also something to be said about showing different points of view of things that have already been shown.  For instance, take Star Trek Elite Force II, which starts out with voyager inside the borg sphere in the last episode, and your team must disable a dampening field allowing voyager to use weapons/engines.  I thought that was an ingenious way to start a game.

Perhaps you could show things like wolf 359, from a klingon point of view, or an encounter with kirk from a romulan point of view.  Or if the team is feeling really creative, maybe another race that was indirectly affected by political stress between these powers.

I'm just brainstorming here, and of course the devs need to do what they want to do.  Feel free to use/build on my ideas, but everyone will have a different idea of how things "should" be done, and many games get ruined from developers trying to do too much of what players ask for.  (Star Wars Galaxies comes to mind)
