Miranda II

I was just playing a game with me (feds) and a hard ai (dom) against 2 hard ais (klings and roms), and i wanted to rave about the miranda II. it's initial stats are modest; 20-something offense and 36 defense. However, if you can get it to an officer rank, it really shines. It gets the "Stand-alone Shielding Systems" ability, which boosts its defense by 10 for each officer rak it gets. Combine this with its regular veteran defense boost, its Backbone Shielding ability, and its Blockade breaker special weapon, and you have a vessel that will take reduced damage from practically anything! it has nice weapons too. please, please, Pleeeeeeeeease can we have it for the main yard? after all, it's reasonable that the federation should have a mainline replacement for the miranda (aside from the steamrunner which appears to be some sort of arty mutant, at least in FO)....

the miranda2 is a good reason to capture an enemy construtor why should this be changed?
and you wrote(in Mixed Tech Concerns) that mixed-tech isn't used that much.

moving the miranda2 to the normal yard would be bad for mixed-tech, sure not all mixed-tech ships are useful at the moment, but i'm sure the devs will take care of that :thumbsup:

i especially like the burstfire torpedo leahval :guns:

Well the problem is (excepting the dominon) all races only really should capture a construction ship if they happen to be playing against the one race that offers them a special ship. But not to turn this into that thread, did you know that you only get those burstfire torpedos until it gets to an officer rank? then they get replaced with dual particle weapons. it seems like a bug...

as far as i remember the torpedos are only missing in the officer rank tooltip(hm, i should've reported that) but they still use them

mixed-tech is also important when you're in a 2on2 as you can use it from the beginning and have no need to capture a constructor

so it has 2 particle weapons and the torpedoes? wow. that means it's basically a cruiser with some support abilites tacked on! :woot: :woot: :woot:

just tested it and yes you have particle weapon + burstfire torpedo on it when this baby gains an officer rank :)

That is a bug though that the tooltip does nto reflect it... Optec? Doca Cola?

The tooltip has already been fixed for 3.0.6
