Oh, yeah my final round of the tournament.... If you want to see and laugh how can you loose with the perfect early build up( i think it is) aginst klings, you definetaly need to watch it!
I was "spamming" mistakes in that game. The lag can drive me really crazy
, I kept spamming move orders (bad habbit from starcraft (2) ), and it is deadly in a laggy game.
Btw, congrats to Clint, he just played by the book without any bigger mistakes! (I think this separates great players from bunglers like me
)
I think I really had the chance to win, causing hard times to Clint at start
, as Boggz would say: "You need to practice more Elim!" - and he is definetaly right.
I'm curious if anybody else tries to play doms in the turney, or we will just watch feds to bang the shit out of everybody.
PS: I hope many ppl will se it's really nice to play doms (if you are not as stupid as me
), I just need to find out when I need to put the sensor station down aginst cloakers, it's not easy to find a window of oppotunity without pausing badly the ship production. (49 supply for the research, thats more than a t-15)
Anyway, on the next tourney you will face an improved Elim, and at the end you will serve the founders or die!
Oh-oh-oh, prototypes..... Myles, I dont need that bloddy thing, if I don't want to make more from that kind of ships, i was planning to switch big yard production, but using the proto in combat provides me more firepower.
Edit: grammar error

well if u had saved the b8 proto, u could have made more b8 later to replace the ones that died.
using it in the first battle wasnt a terrible mistake, its just bad luck it died. i would have sent it for repair faster.
using it after first battle i would never do.
also u could have gone for s2 just for the white, i would have done that, just for 30% more killing power.

Great commentating guys! And a great game by Elim. The scouting advantage really was the only reason I won.

That and the fact that Elim kept sending his ships one by one to die in the beginning, didn't use troop-transports all at once (and not at all at the beginning), made Bugs against their direct counter, and let you know way in advance where his forces were going to attack, letting all the miners escape before. Probably most of those orders-related mistakes due to what looked like traditional stop-and-go-lag

maybe a small yard with B8 and a large one at exp with T15 would have been better...but I might be wrong.

I wouldn't truly recommend that in a 1v1 unless you can count on an opponent who will let you be long enough
. B-8's have a slow enough construction time that unless you are building them out of two yards, you'll be outnumbered fast, not to mention those exorbitant tech up costs.

Looks like there was a supply and/or con matrix problem for Arash there. Its always a problem with Borg if you don't plan things right.
Loved the use of the dodec, guessing we will see that again in a future game.
The biggest surprise for me was Butters' several bouts of indecision during the game.
Another fun game to watch.

Building wrong ships as Borg and the strength of lucky warpins caused loss imo. I find it quite amazing that 1 warpin and a few intrepids can fight back a number of probes and scubes easily...

Yeah, those warp-in were well lucky. Twice getting 1xGalaxy and 2xAmbassadors is just amazing luck.
And Myles kept saying "He should be building Dodecs" and i was thinking what a shame that Arash couldn't hear him. Still, overall, Arash knew that Intrepids were being spammed from very early on... he should have... adapted.

the warpins were very lucky, a match i played recently i got 2 excel 1 sensor neb a lot. or 2 excel 1 torp neb, or 2 excel with something random lol.
butterbread was quite fortunate, he got loads of galaxies, an ok amount of ambassadors and some steamies, which are good vs borg. but all along the intreps were there, plenty of intreps for a dodeca or 2 to munch on.
intreps have better stats than probes lol.
i talked to arash about his strat of probe/scube spam, he said it was to protect his larger ships as he wanted butterbread's fleet to waste firepower "over-destroying" small ships. this would work if butterbread had a huge fleet, huge enough that each probe could be destroyed by 1 volley of the fleets weapons, and that a smaller fleet could kill it in 1 volley as well. so that the firepower of some of the ships would be wasted by firing at something that already had enough ships firing on it. this works with bugs maybe, but in this case butterbread's fleet was never large enough to kill a probe in 1 volley. so very little firepower was wasted.
myself i would have made a dodeca or 2 more, one of which has 2 vinculum modules, and then made spheres with 3 regen 1 holding. arash made these holding spheres, but didnt make a double vinca dodeca, which can instantly give your holding sphere over 1000 energy for regen
i use them a lot as they are supreme tanks.

but 2 vincs also mean less offensive...this btw was one of the main points why Borg could not destroy smaller ships fast. Maybe a beamsphere and Regensphere would have been better in Mid-game...instead he went for massive economy.
